I was situated SW of the hole and walked RRUU. So I should now be NE of t not just east?

Is there some part of the rules about blocking characters and how does it work?

Item pick ups work like this: Whoever is closest to the item picks it up... If two or more miners share the same spot, then the one who puts in orders first gets the item(s).

Side Note: Could each player include their miner color in either their avatar, or their signature, so that I can produce updates more efficiently? Thanks, I'd appreciate it.

Sure, I can make you face right, but not move right. But I see you wish to use the flashlight effectively, and yes your thinking is right ;) Just make sure you mention the direction in your orders, like you have.
