At the request of the two confirmed candidates for Science leader, this is the soap box debate thread. The format will be as follows:

- Each candidate will post why they think they would be a good science leader in general terms.

- Once both have posted, each will make a post posing questions they would like to ask the other, and answer themselves.

- A moderator will then post any questions they have received for the candidates. Citizens please PM these to myself or Shaitan

- Once both have posted questions, they will both make one post answering these questions.

- The debate will continue like this until it is over.

Good luck!

Welcome to the debate. I would like to thank my oponent, donsig for agreeing to this debate. I would like to start by stating my intentions, plain and simple: Get Fanatika to Literature as quickly as possible. That is my main goal. I am, however, more then willing to work with the people on this. If the people want to go to Monarchy, i will follow them. I will work for the will of the people. I have expericence with this position, as of now, I am acting head of the FNSD. I worked with strider to create the Science Manifesto (the doccument which splits the techs up into categories) and we have been using that ever since. I plan on making one for all time periods. So, until more questions come along, I end this speach with,
VOTE PENGUIN!!

Edit- Strider is back and we have plans to run as a ticket. Vote Penguin/Strider

The FNSD must do more than just elicit from our citizens which tech we should research next. The FNSD must help to decide (according to our citizens wishes) which techs we should try to buy or trade for, which techs we should sell and which techs we should guard as state secrets. The FNSD must keep in mind the national goals that our citizens have set and try to steer our research in the direction that will best help Fanatika to reach those goals. If I am elected to head the FNSD I will see to it that all these things are done.

As I've been with the demogame sense day 1 and have been science leader for 4 terms I wish you will consider voting for me. I was one of the first department leaders to make efforts to increase citizen particaption in my departments affairs. I have been trade deputy under Chieftess which increased my knowledge of successful trade and I will strive to do my best to get Tech Trade's up as soon as possible for citizen discussion.

I hope that you will vote for me as Science Leader in the coming elections.

Thanks,
Strider

First question, all candidates: What game commitments do you have apart from the position you are running for?

Second question, for Strider: Have you recovered from your accident and will you now be able to handle the rigors of office?

Third question, all candidates: How will you determine the will of the people and will you be proactive in doing so?

My main commitments are in the RPG aspect of the demo game. I'm co-price manager with VHS though I'm more of a back-up there. I am commited to producing an issue of Die Fanatischen Zeiten for every turn chat. I'm also committed to remaining the richest man in the country. ;)

I would determine the will of the people by opening discussions on FNSD policies and by presenting fact and figures related to the formation of said policies. I would also try to keep our national goals in froont of the people so that FNSD policies can be geared towards those goals. Many times discussion is sufficient to understand what the people want. Sometimes, though, polling must be done. When this is needed I would hire the services of YN&A, polling consultants. I would certainly be proactive in this endeavor. we are much better off when we plan ahead!

1) Making information easy to read. As always try my hardest and at my best ability.

2) Yes I believe I have. I was able to handle the rigors of the office before, but being insulted quite a few times shook up my courage in being able to do the job correctly.

3) As I have always done.... Post a queue discussions thread & post polls over some of the discussions. The short time between turn chats does not allow us to discuss topics very much, through I will try my best to get everything decided upon before the T/C.

Sorry for my lateness, everyboddy. Been at one of the most boring baptisims known to man..

1) Lets see... how many times is my name in the RPG thread? Bank Leader, Deputy RPG Manager, Boss of the EgoCentric Eatery, Head of the NGEG, dachsund breeder and oboe player extrodinare.

3) Post possible queues, get discussion, take it to the polls and put the polls up for discussion. Discussions would be ongoing, followed by two day polls. The results of these polls would be the next tech researched.

Please feel free to ask the candidates questions at this point.:)

I have a question for the current officers of the Science Department, Strider and SAAM.

For the second straight turn chat there were no instructions from either of you to sell Alphabet. This is a fairly uniformly supported idea from the population. It was discussed in your thread and everywhere else that current strategy is being discussed.

Why have you abandoned this job duty for the past week and why are you ignoring the wishes of the citizens?

We have not abandoned are job!!! Stuck and I did not post instructions, because we were going to be at the T/C. Also I have seen NOTHING saying to sell alphabet that I can remember..... I'll will look around for anything that might say that, but I have seen nothing or else I would have done something about it.
