[SOLVED] Please Help Me: Black screen after intro, but music is playing

After playing the intro. Civ 5 just goes to a black screen with theme music playing in the background.
The install is correct, the drivers are up to date, I've spent hours reading various forums trying to find what I feel should be a simple answer but I've had no luck at all.
Been playing Civilization for years so you can imagine how annoyed and frustrated I am at being so close to Civ 5 and only hearing background music.

64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium
i7 Cpu 920@ 2.67GHz
6GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295

I'm not too computer savvy so I assume I'm just a doofus and the answer is simple but I'm totally at my limited wits end.

Did you already try it in windowed mode?

I looked it up and windowed mode worked...thanks very much. I'm officially a happy camper.

Switch to Windows Basic theme and enjoy full functionality

And yes I tried all the windowing and resolution changes... they don't fix it they just get you past it, but in windowed mode

The theme IS the problem, change it
