I'm in the final count down and it's neck and neck between me and KAvitha - well, she holds the advantage. She's affinity level 12, I'm 10. She's got the mind flower researched, I've got the gate researched. Depending on how much xp comes from the CEL quest added to 40 xp from the Angel tech in the next 6 turns, I'll move up to 12 or 13.

Anyway, the point is, when I get to level 13, I can't hang about. My questions is, how many soldiers of what type need to go through the gate? And is it a unit a turn?

I imagine she'll get the flower built before I get the gate open, but if she's got to wait 15 turns for the contact, I might be able to beat her, if I can pre build the units needed and push them through in a single turn?

I read somewhere that units of a total of 1100 something need to be put through. NOt sure what the 1100 stood for? How many sabres or angels would be needed if I was to rush buy them? Is there somewhere where I can read the value of each unit and add up how many and what type will be needed?

The alternative to doing this is to try and jump her. The problem is her capital is over 20 hexes from my border, there are at least 2 cities in the way and she's currently 2 levels above me. I guess a small agile army of rovers might work. But I'm sure she's tooled up, and I'm not sure how easy it will be to get them round her city's unscathed and to wherever she will be building her flower...a two pronged attack..?

Plus, when I build my gate, I'm going to be needing volunteers to go through it, not fighting on the other side of the map. - which is why I really need to know how many and what type of units I'm going to need to hold back to do the gate jump. So any info regards this will be appreciated.

It's set up to be an interesting 40 turns anyhow.

Thanks.

One unit per turn, total of 1000 strength needed. You can put any units with combat strength.
e. g. You put a Prime CNDR, 63 is added to the counter. Then you put an ANGEL, 88 is added and counter is 151 now.

IIRC Prime CNDR have highest strength per production cost. But making stronger withs will make it quicker, obviously.

But again I say wide is high. If you want a super city build 100 cities and give that city all the trade routes. I don't care how worthless the city was to begin with now its a super city. This is far superior than focusing on actually building the city by improving the tiles and building improvements. Settlers are AWESOME.

Depends. You feel like loading a game ~10 turns back?

No?

Then your option, and only option, is a very fast invasion. Blitzkrieg or faster. If you have a navy with planes, use that. If it's a map without any water, use rovers, and a lot of them. Get some planes and use them as much as possible to bomb ahead of the rovers.

EDIT: But yeah, I've run successful invasions in less than 15 turns before. It only felt like 20 because the turns took a while to think out. If you have a decent military with 5-8 rovers available, it just might barely work with air support and maybe a few siege units. Remember, units generally move at 2 tiles a turn, barring terrain, so you'll have 10 turns of military fire available, or 5 in the worst case scenario. Five turns is more than enough to take a city, if you ignore the ones between you and her. You could make some quicksaves if you want to try more than one strategy out.

Yeah, and since she's building mind flower, i guess she'll get jumped at least by some aliens, no? Possibly other AIs, even. Perhaps joining the fun and razing that flower could save the day indeed.

I wouldn't count on either aliens or other AI being a factor. By this point in the game, aliens are likely to be any kind of distraction, and the AI in BE doesn't seem too inclined to declare war just because you're about to win. If you want the other AI players declaring war to put on additional pressure, you're going to have to use diplomacy to bring that about.

Can't "count" on other AIs and even aliens to be of any use on their own even when one AIs do mind flower - yep, this is true. Can't "count" it is. But can still hope. The same, though, is true about diplomacy as well. Yes, diplomacy can be used to make some other AIs to declare war to the AI which makes mind flower - true; however as described in one in nearby topics ("what alliance?") and in many others, quite often AIs declare war but fail to _do_ war in fact. Sending a lone worker doesn't count, right?
