Some Questions

Okay, I'm making a mod for my clan buddies just so I can learn the basics of how to mod this game. Later I have a plan for a sci-fi mod that should be released for the public. I've got most things down. I just have a few minor bugs that I'd like to get ironed out, but I haven't been able to figure them out, or find a tutorial for them yet.

1. How to I make the alpha channel in units' .dds file to where they show the unit's colors on the area I want it? I tried editing the alpha channel and I can't get it to work. I'm using Photoshop 6.0. The textures themselves work fine though and it works if I’m editing an existing file, but when I try to make a new file from scratch, the alpha channel doesn’t seem to do anything.

2. I've made a custom space fighter model thing that uses the stealth fighter animations. It will fly around and sound like a jet, but when it bombs nothing shows up. No bombs, no explosions, etc. It still does damage though. How do I fix this?

3. I also made a unique unit from retexturing the bomber and calling it a Snake Bomber (Snakes on a Plane ref.) and I made a snake model and replaced the bomberbomb.nif file with a model of a snake. So whenever it bombs it should drop snakes, but instead it just drops regular bombs. What do I have to change to fix this? I think it’s in the kfm file, but see #4.

4. How to I edit the .kf and .kfm files? I can open them with NifScope, but I don't have a clue how to edit them in there. Is there a tutorial on just editing these files?


5. Has anyone figured out how to make custom animations yet?


That's about it for right now. I'd like to thank everyone who has posted tutorials here. They have really helped me out.

For this question, I think that it's no more possible to edit the alpha channel in photoshop 6... The alpha channel is "bonded" to the picture... This was not the case in the previous version of photoshop... I tried to add a plug-in but it seems not to work...
