hi,

i own the playstation version of civ2, (there are no updated versions of this)

what updated versions are there for the pc? - please tell me all, with a brief description of the differences/features, and if possible the order in which they was released?

what are considered to be the better versions?

THANK YOU!!!

i just looked up civilization chronicles, released in 2006, which has just about every version of Civ to date. The civ 2 versions included in that include the 'vanilla' 2.42, Civ 2 Fantastic Worlds (FW), Civ 2 Conflicts in Civilization (CiC), and Civ 2 Test of Time (ToT). Of course there is also Multiplayer Gold Edition (MGE) and the european version of MGE - Ultimate Civilization Classic Collection (UCC) out there as well.

Most people generally will refer to 2.42, MGE and ToT as the primary versions of Civ2 (i think i read somewhere that FW and CiC were included in MGE). 2.42 is the last patch of the solo version of the game, MGE is the standard multiplayer version, and ToT is a rather unique in civ2. those who create scenarios i'm sure could do a much better job of explaining what all was added from MGE to ToT - i know overlaying, or multiple maps (ie space, surface and underground), modified graphics abilities, and more room to create 'events' are some of them, as well as a default games of scifi and fantasy-worlds.

as for when they were released, Civ 2 first came out in 1996, MGE was 1998 (found 1 place listing as 12/31/97), and ToT was 1999
