In my latest game, i builded a soul forge to send some prophets to boost up the produtcion on my meshaber of dis... But, he did'nt get souled... Why?

If I understand you correctly, it's because special abilities which consume the unit don't KILL it, which is what the forge needs.

It does matter. If you USE a special ability that will consume the unit, the unit did not get KILLED, which is what is needed for the Soul Forge to work.

The soul forge works the way you would think it would conceptually - souls are converted to work. Any time no souls are produced when a unit is eliminated, there is no production from the soul forge. It sounds like you disbanded the unit, meaning you just sendthem all home. Using a prophets special ability causes them to kind of settle down and produce culture boost. Neither of these things kills the prophet, so you get no souls.

Yes, and gameplay-wise, if unit is removed using some spell/ability, such as priest creating temple, it will count as death too. And sacrificing unit on demons altar is death both gameplay and flavor wise.

IT would make sense to add the sacrifice unit to the Soul forge... though I can see that might cause some balance issues... possibly. Does the Forge work like other unit hurry options, such that the value of the unit is taken into account? EX, A great engineer supplies a lot more hammers to hurry production than say a soldier of kilm. Is that value coded specifically for those units? or is it generated actively based on unit cost?

Although I've used the cauldron/demon combo to sacrifice Vampire Lords and had it spawn demon lords although the immortal vampire lords still appeared in my capital. On reflection, I may have also flesh golem-ed Vampire Lords and also had the Lord survive even though he created a flesh golem. I'd have to confirm the latter - the former definitely works.

Thats nice to know. I just started a Calabim game and like the idea of having 6+ immortals. ;) I've sean several posts mentioning grafting units with the immortal promotion to get the unit back and to get an immortal golem.

True, but you're still getting unlimited units Mind/Body/Death III, sorceror/summoner, maxxed combat strength / march move / bonus movement, and whatever else your heart desires, all from one side of their hybrid, and since you're recycling your vampire lords due to their immortality you might at well get them to 20th level or so. My favorite simple mix is to buy up the city assault tree with the Vampire Lord and splice with a Shadow.

If you want unlimited immortals, go with cauldron/altar/forge and sacrificing immortal units. You get nice production and research bonuses, and every sacrifice nets you an Infernal Lord (who is also immortal, and the cauldron isn't limited to only 3 infernal lords). It does, however, require that you get 2 specific wonders in one city, which may make it prohibitively difficult for you in MP.
