Sound and 3d graphic flickering

I experience some flickering in the graphics (darker and lighter and over and over again) when 3d figures (the game characters (other civ leaders)) move, Also got some "stutters" or "cracks" in the background music. I'm currently updating my Nividia Geforce Ti 4200 with AGP8X drivers, hope this'll solve the problem. Any other options if this doesn't work?

Sounds do fine now, since I canceled hardware acceleration in the directX settings, graphics are good again I think after updating from my video card drivers... at least I think so because sid is not flickering but still didn't check leaders though.
