sound problems

Am I the only one that has irritating popping sounds during the game? I just got it today and I have updated my sound card drivers but it does not fix it. I want to play in 'surround sound' option if possible.

System:

XP pro SP2
1 GB ram
Creative Audigy 1 Gamer Edition (driver 5.12.1.443)
Pent 4 3.0 HT
Gigabyte 8inxp mobo
direct x 9.0c (no problems reported)
Radeon 9800 pro

any help or pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

I recorded a small portion so I know I am not insane. It happens mostly in the pre=recorded sequences (swabbing deck, marquee bursting in)

Hmm, don't know what to say, but did you try to select other "Sound" options and see if it makes a difference?

If that doesn't work, contact Firaxis Troubleshooting here.

There should be another patch, *hopefully* in the future as well (therefore having the potential to fix your problem).

I must be the only one as I have received nada in several forums as far as responses from people with the same popping sound or many suggestions to fix it. It doesnt happen in any other games I own (hl2, doom3 or music.) I get some studerring in hl2 but thats a whole other can of worms and dont belong here.

Its just annoying but doen't interfere with play exept for the ambience.

In a few weeks I'm doing a fresh install with a new audigy2 zs and hope its fixed. I'll try firaxis. If they listen to the audio file it is clearly legible.
