As the title implies, I won a game via Spaceship victory and upon completion I get an ingame error message telling me that the movies are not installed correctly. This is followed by a complete crash of the game.

I also have the common audio and and video stutter problems, especially on the wonder movies (which implies that some of my movies are installed properly).

I have the v1.52 patch installed.

My system requirements are all within the recommended requirements except for my 32mb nVidia GeForce 4 440 go video card (recently updated)

Gameplay is alright but it can get choppy at times.

Does anyone else receive this error? Is there a way to bypass these victory movies?

is there a place to see these movies outside of the game?

I remember hearing about low-res movies for the game being included in the patch, can anyone confirm if these were not included?

I have a similar problem to yours. However, the graphics, movies, and gameplay have all been nearly perfect up until the turn of my Space Race Victory. At the very start of the turn that I would finish the last space ship component, the game crashes to the desktop. I tried turning off the "In Game Video setting" in my .ini file but that did nothing. It must be some sort of bug upon victory? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it did nothing. I dont think this has to do with any graphics problem.

You can turn off all the movies by opening the Civ4.ini config file and changing "nomovies" from 0 to 1. Though there was a lot of talk about low res movies, I don't think they were included in the patch.

Are you sure it was the "nomovies" value you changed? This does sound very like a crash caused by a movie, and I don't know of anything else that would crash the game specifically at victory.

MrCynical, thanks for your response. However, I did try changing the "nomovies" value to 1 in the "CivilizationIV.ini" file. No dice. I also tried disabling the audio, music, and full screen mode ....also no luck there.

Last night, I did download the latest [February 2006] DirectX9.0c install from Microsoft. For some reason, instead of giving me the desktop crash, the CivIV screen just freezes. I noticed the research bar advanced a turn, but everything else just freezes. I clicked on the screen after a few minutes and the background music started playing again. This is my first run through CivIV so I havent tried any other victories yet, just Space Race.

Has there been any reported problems with the Victory Screen? I haven't seen any yet...
