If you play a game with "Spaceship win" turned off, the relevant technology advances still appear. Can you still build the spaceship, and is there any point - eg a bonus score on you culture rating for being first to build it?
Or can I simply ignore the whole issue and concentrate on making my population happy in other ways?

BTW is it posible to turn off the maddening, pointless "patrolling" neighbouring civs' units sometimes go through at the end of the human player turn?

Thanks in advance..

Hold the shift key during computer's turn, and every enemy unit will move / patrol etc at insane speed. Instead of few minutes, the movements will be completed in some seconds.

If you turn it off the techs are still there but you cant build the ship... but i never get to the modern times i always win or quit by then but it just seems logical right?

If Space isn't enabled, you cannot build any SS parts in Conquests. I believe vanilla still allowed them to be built, and the AI would always waste time building the parts for no reason.

Hit ctrl-P and that takes you to your "preferences" menu. You can turn animations off for friendly civs (ones you aren't at war with), enemy civs, and even your own units. Gives you quite a few options. Or do what tricky said...the shift key speeds up all the movement animations, but not battle animations.

I think you can't even build Apollo in vanilla. But i'm not sure, I always play with all conditions. And in the Preferences, you can even choose not to see the moves (useful for friends).

If you play without diplomatic you can't build UN so I suppose that playing without spaceship will prevent you from building apollo and the spaceship parts.
