Just started a new game as Trajan and when I settled Rome the map revealed Giants Causeway near my capital, nice early game boost for all my units

Well , I had the impression that the bonus given by the spear goes away everytime you upgrade or go into formation (which makes sense , the game seems to use a destruction/re-creation kind of mecanism) . Spear becomes less attractive since you need to route your units there all the time to get full benefit

I've found it quite a way away from my capital in my latest game, but as no one else is settled close my second city is going to be near it!
