Hi all,

Im new here so, erm, hi! :)

Im trying to speed up Civ IV on a friends computer for some LAN fun. Its a PIV 1.6, 512 with a 9600.

I think i might have found a factor of the slowness here -

Ouch, :S Got diskeeper 10 on that for him now.

Ive increased the swap file a 'lil.

After turning all the in-game settings down, is there anything else i can do, possibly via the config file, to speed things up a little?

Thanks much.

Basically, turning off audio, movies, screenshots, tech splash screens can help. Also, close as many background applications as possible. Use low resolution.

; Set to 1 for no intro movie
NoIntroMovie = 1

; Allow Screenshots. May affect performance on some video cards
AllowScreenShots = 0

; Enable voice over IP capture and playback
EnableVoice = 0

; Set max frame rate clamp (0 means none)
SetMaxFrameRate = 30

; Set to 1 for no tech splash screens
NoTechSplash = 1

; Set to 1 for no in-game movies
NoMovies = 1

; Enable Audio
AudioEnable = 0
