split research tree

I see a potential hole in that idea, it could stop research of new techs altogether, I could just research Bronze Working forever, slowly transforming my Spearman into some sort of SuperSpearman (ie Spearman CXI).

Yes, that's exactly why only _some_ of the techs ought to be so flagged. :)

Generally the idea is just to have something worthwhile to research after you have researched the entire tree.

Too much complication for me, and I think that all the investigation must be one line like is now.

i think the modern age was overly simplified. the jumps in tank technology was much bigger than jumps in foot soldiers, yet we only get 2 tanks in the game. I think the gulf wars proved the the disparity betweens tanks only a generation apart.

I think pembroke's is just going over the top with his Modern Armor xxx, although funy it should just go up to five or three

It just occured to me, in the Japan Conquest, techs make the Daimyo unit stronger, so why couldn't certain techs that do very little increase attack of certain units. That way you could choose to make your knights stronger with oe tech and it isn't as confusing or disorientating as researching a tech three times.
According to the latest review (that I've seen) each Conquest showcases features in the actual core game, so this might already be in (Keep in mind I'm reading between the lines here).

this technique is extremely useful for air, navel and tank units. You can have better armor, better weapons, better design, etc. Would give us a way to utilize all the air and tank units that have been produced.

Good idea! So if you learn certain techs your units get a certain bonus:

eg.: chemistry would add +1 to the attach value of musketmen...

I also like the idea of the units being better and better as tech advances until being almost as good as the 1st version of the successor... :)

like when you invent radio, all your units will get a communication bonus.
