Spy experience with successful mission?

I have played Mods where the spy gets experience points for successful missions, and can then get promotions, but I am playing a mod now that doesn't have that feature.

How is it done? How do spies get experience from successful missions?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The Super Spies mod does that.

Yes, thanks. I saw that mod. Integrating it into what I am using would be a lot more work than I am willing to invest.
