Plus cyrillic alphabet makes a writing a bit different cause letters are not the same (not only do they write differently they are also for different letters which latin alphabet does not know).
I don't know which nation originates from which, but Croatia was an independent kingdom until cca. 1100, so at least we can say they are a different nation for one thousand years, and that is probably enough, don't you think so?

Summa: Croatian and Serbian are two different languages that use two different alphabets, but are very similar. In fact, my guess is they have more than 90% of common words.
Same goes for Bosnian.
Slovenian is different, it has different words and uses dual alongside with singular and plural.
Macedonian is even more unsimilar, especially words are very different.

If they have a different culture, then they're not Serbs. They may be related to them (obviously ; they're all slavic peoples living next to each others), but they're not serbs.

American southerners have a different culture. Would you say they aren't American ?

I'm not saying that Croats are Serbs because of this, but considering both as Yugoslavians as we did before the war wasn't more incoherent than considering Hindis, Punjabis and Tamils as Indians. Now the fact the country has split obviously proves that people didn't want to live together anymore, so it's silly to talk about this anymore.

American southerners are of American nationality, and perhaps part of an overall American culture, but they're not New Englanders or Californians.

Serbs and Croats are all southern Slavs (and southern Slavs), and (while that country existed), they were all Yugoslavians, but that doesn't make Croats into Serbs.

I'm from Serbia, but I will try to be objective.

Serbian and Croat language has same grammar, only difference is in words. That difference is growing in last decade because Croats are changing their language to be different from Serbian. However, Serb and Croats understand each other even if they speak with their own languages. I think Scandinavian languages are also that similar.

Bosnian language does not exist. Same grammar as in Serbian. There are alot of turkish words, that is true, that is result more than 5 centuries of opression and genocide from Ottoman Empire. Hey, in almost every language in surounding we have english words (computer for example), but that does not mean every language is english in origin.

Croats are catholic, Serbs are orthodox, Muslims or Bosnians are not nation. During Turkish occupation they are mostly Serbs and some part of Croats who adopted Islam during opression. Macedonians have their own language. Montenegroans are actually Serbs with their own country and they speak Serbian.

Thank God, evil years of communism and genocide against us will never return, but Kingdom of Yugoslavia, for me, was a big mistake. King just wanted to rule great teritory instead of unifying entire Serbian nation in one country, Great Serbia, as general Zivojin Misic sugested. Former foes are still foes and they cannot be trusted. He sided with nations who were enemies of his people, thats the reason why we suffer to this day for bad kings decision. Maybe this is not place for this opinion, but I think Serbia need Teocratic government and ruler like Tzar Dusan the Mighty . Some might guess that in Civ4 theocracy is my favorite civic

Loving your first link in the signature, it's very hilarious It really amuses me to see that there are still so many Serbs who long so desperately for the Great Serbia, which is a stupid fantasy, it never existed and will never exist. I feel pity for all you guys...

As for the pigs hehe that's a good joke, but people from other countries might think that you are actually seriuos. However, it is true that Croatian linguists changed some words (during the war) to make Croatian language more different from Serbian... example: Sport --> Šport (pronounced Shport), that's really annoying...

Nothing is lost forever. After 500 years we beat Ottomans. Nazies almost entered the Moscow in 1941, but we all know what happens 1945. Great Serbia term is misunderstood. We don't want other nations teritories, we just want what is ours. Who doubt about what that teritories are should really study Balkans history and not say things based on CNN propaganda. Unfortunately alot of people see only one side of te medal.

But this is not place for political debate, I know that people who already have formed opinion about us will never change it, I just can feel sorry for them. Serbs will ALWAYS defend their country, no metter how strong enemy is. We were never been atacked by enemy equal ti our strength, always atacked by supepowers (Ottomans, Austro-Hungary and Germany, Germany, Blocked by Stallins Sowiet Union and atacked by NATO). Our country is now under ocupation and divided, but evil is not eternal. You can kill one man, you can kill thounsends, but you can't kill entire nation.

Palestinians did not give up, Vietnamese di not gave up, as many other nations in the world, at the end truth will always triumph with Gods help.

Den I under stand this! but guess what! NATO will never give you kosovo! and you know why? because then republic of Serbs will demand a independence and Hungary will demand Erdelj (Hungarian for Transylvania), Dalmatia independence etc.
