Apologies if some variant of this idea has been posted as I haven't gone back and read through all the other ideas suggested. I like how the corps/army mechanic and the support units let the map gets a little less cluttered without giving up 1 upt but I think combat could stand for a little more stacking; perhaps up to 2 or 3 combat units of different types (e.g. a musketman and a field cannon) could share a tile rather than just 1 support unit and 1 other combat unit.
