Hi. Just had this happen in GOTM58. I was exploring with my scout in France territory (open border) using his roads to move faster. I clicked on an empty looking tile (it was in the fog) and my scout moved towards this tile. However when i got in range of that tile, it appeared it was occupied and my scout stopped moving on top of french unit.
Now, i can't end my turn because i must move the scout, but there is no empty tile in range so i can't move it either.

Can't move, can't end turn. Must delete the unit. This is just a scout, but it would be a nasty bug if another unit was caught this way.

Why can't you move back to the tile you were occupying when you started your turn? Can the scout go in the water?

This one is really old. Low priority for the devs, obviously. The only solution is to move 1 tile at a time and not let a notorious path-finding algorithm choose the worst possible option for you. :crazyeye:
Ah, didn't look way back enough. I never had this occur before so i though it was new, i've noticed some changes to path-finding lately (AI prophets can move through one of my empty cities, something they couldn't do before ), also stacked archers in a city (cause they were just built) can fire once before being ejected outside the city at end of turn. Previously they would refuse to fire.

Also, moving only 1 tile at a time is obviously not possible when you are trying to cross an AI "carpet of doom" to explore further. Even if this emperor carpet is nothing compared to a Deity carpet

Pretty decent carpet. Junk units mostly, of course, but we have to give AI the credit for trying. :D

Entering the fog 'blindly' is always risky due to this exact reason. I wasn't clear, my bad. I didn't mean moving 1 hex at a time. I meant that you manually move a unit on available empty tile without using all its MP. If there is another empty tile withing reach (during current turn), move again, otherwise skip the move. You lose some MP, but you keep the unit at least. Right clicking in the fog can cause it to get stuck like it happened in this case. It's really annoying, but unlikely to be ever patched.
