Hello everyone,
not sure this is something new? but I didn't find it in this forum.

This hardly never happens in a normal game, but if you have more than 10 units on a square that is not a fortress/city and it gets attacked "only" 10 units dies, the rest stay.
You would think ALL would die right?

I did a YouTube video showing this :) I have 13 units stacked and a bomber attack and removes 10 units (then later a canon takes out the 3 last once)

This was a tactic I used to use to survive a nuclear and land based surprise attack by the enemy, as I knew that stacking up the units would preserve some defences. Although it doesn't help if you receive multiple nukes on the same turn.

Sometimes, unrelated to the stacked units thing, units that have become kind of 'invisible' to the game also survive nukes - although to get any use out of them you have to unfortify them and move them out of the city then back in.

How does a unit become invisible to the game?

There is a bug in CIV DOS that occurs quite often. Units that occupy the same square are linked by a circular linked list. The links sometimes become corrupted. Mostly it is not noticed, but sometimes units disappear or seem to be in other locations. In drastic cases the game freezes or terminates. Both TerraForm and CIV$ have a feature that will repair a linked list that is corrupt. I first noticed this when I use to stack a large numbers of caravans next to a city in anticipation of building a wonder.

Ok, we are off topic, but it's hardly worth starting a whole new thread to mention this minor curiosity.
When a unit steps from on ship to another on ocean that has rails or roads, the unit and newly boarded ship will disappear from the display even as the unit remains active.
BTW, if the invisible unit then enters a city, it will land sentried and will be able to continue moving.
