I got Empire at War last week and I think it's an awesome game, the space battles are the best and the graphics and sounds are amazing. You can easily pass the time playing EaW. However, the game isn't without it's problems, it seems to be a bit easy, the AI is little shotty when it come to land battles, and the game still has a few bugs which will probably be patched up, not to mention the high specs required to run the game which I can't even run on my old dinosaur of a computer. I gotta use either my parents or a friend's pc to play it. From my experience, I'd give it an 8.5/10. If you're really into Star Wars, you should go out and get it.
GalCiv is different than EaW, because GalCiv is a TBS game similar to Civ or MOO where you build a civilzation to span the galaxy. EaW is more like a RTS where you build up military/industrial power and battle it out on or around different planets in the Star Wars galaxy.
Heh im getting both of them, awhile back i wasnt sure if GalCiv2 is worth it becuz have to pay up to play the beta and they didnt have alot of goodies going on back then. Unfort i didnt like GalCiv1 demo.
