Hi everyone, just got into the Civ series! Bought Civ 4 today. Played for an hour or two and was pretty impressed. Although, I remember stories of massive campaigns in single player mode from previous Civ games. Can't seem to find any in 4...

What are some big features of Civ that a noobie should be told about?

If it runs, then that would be the biggest feature. But seriously, where could you even begin? There are some scenarios listed under single player in the main menu. I don't know how good they are, as I am not into that sort of thing myself and haven't tried them out.

I'm guessing that Civ4 is hoping for player created mods for those epic campaigns and battles I keep hearin about from a few friends of mine who call themselves 'CivVets' . Did Civ3 have any major campaigns available from the inital game?

There was only one scenario in vanilla Civ3, the semi-realistic earth map.

Many scenarios were made for PTW and even more for Conquest. I am sure much will come out down the road, but I doubt you will see some of the monster games that can be seen in SG forums.

You are not going to be dealing hundreds and even thousands of units in IV. I remember when player complained about the limit of 2048 units in vanilla.
