Starting a new mod (Doctor who mod) Quick questions

Right ive started making a new mod based off of the doctor who series and ive literally just started it maybe an hour ago or so and i was just wondering if people had any tips to help make sure it dosn't fail or for things i should watch out for.

also for people interested in what i hope the mod will be im trying to make a general doctor who mod where they are all fighting over earth and you have multiple factions fighting for different reasons.
I also want to make a scenario option of being able to fight in the time war aswell as either the timelords or the daleks with other civilizations being only ai controlled.

anyway the things ive got so far are
civilizations
Doctor Who's Army ~ Doctor Who and Rose Tyler as leaders
Humans ~ joshua naismith as leader
Master Race ~ The Master as leader
Daleks ~ Davros as leader
cult of skaaro ~ dalek jast,sec,thay and caan as leaders
messaline rebels ~ jenny who and hath gabel as leaders
cybermen~ cyber king and john lumic as leaders
Ood ~ Ood Sigma, Ood Brain and Ood Master as leaders
Sontarans ~ skoor and general staal as leaders
judoon ~ rok ma and tygo as leaders
torchwood ~ captain jack as leader
timelords ~ rassilon as leader
pantheon of discord ~ trickster as leader (non playable multi species civ, basically barbarians)

ive also done the civics they should be coded tommorow but here they are

all these names are purely just to get a base down if you have any suggestions for better names then please suggest them

Religions are going to be different instead of religions the mod will have something like beliefs which are going to be unique to each race so you will have humanity beliefs, timelord beliefs, dalek beliefs etc which you will then spread to the enemies to make them sympathetic to your beliefs and thus you'll win through religious/sympathetic victory.

i am making entirely new traits and promotions up so that each leader will have traits specific to them or just shared between a couple of them and promotions will be specific to the doctor who world :)

some civs will share some units like daleks and cult of skaaro but they will also have their own unique units aswell like pig soldiers for the cult :)
im going to be doing all the xml coding and such first and then graphics and animations last mostly because i suck at graphics and hopefully if i manage to do all the code and get it all working then i can open it up for help with the graphics to finish it off.

i know it seems a bit late to start a new mod as civ 5 is just round the corner but i wont be able to play civ 5 anyway so it wont matter to me and if/when i do finish this mod hopefully someone can convert it to be playable on civ 5.

any suggestions on things i should include as far as units and civics etc go are very welcome also the reason why im doing it on warlords is because i want to be able to use the warlord function whereas each civ will have one warlord unit which can be killed forcing them to lose.

i also want some civilizations to have pre existing alliances with each other that can't be changed or broken aswell(if anyone knows how to do this please send me a message telling me how :) ).

I guess you want to play this mod on a predefined worldmap, right?
Then it's no problem, you can start the map and set the civs to be in teams, these are alliances ingame ;).

I suggest to use 2D leaderheads.
From the series you can sure get consistent images for all the leaders, which will fit quite nicely together.
Oh, and they are easy :D.

It's quite unprobable that someone else will do this stuff for you, so you should really think about it.
 
yeh i kinda thought people wouldn't but hey i can always hope but regardless ill just do it myself it'd just take longer as i get to grips with the graphic editing tools :) and thank you for your advice its appreciated.
im gonna keep this thread up to date about the mod or try to so people can see how far along im getting and tell me to hurry up if i don't post in a while
