Do we want to set January 1st as the start date?

  • We have over 90% of the generic Constitution written, it can be ratified by 1st week in December
  • The 1st patch is out, so initial game problems are now getting fixed
  • The game is generally available in mass markets now
  • Many of the people who don't have the game yet would probably have it by Dec. 26th. :D
  • Waiting will cause the novelty of the new game to wear off and participation may suffer
Yeah, we've had this discussion before, and we've even had a poll on it. Let's see if current events have changed anyone's mind. :)

If we want a Jan 1 start date we need to:
  1. Decide and ratify the elected and appointed offices parts of the CoL by Dec. 20
  2. Start nominations by Dec. 22
  3. (optional) decide and ratify any other rules not relating to offices and elections prior to any issues hitting on those rules coming up.

I second that your motion, and take a bit of my sandwich

This sounds like a plan. Now we all have a goal to shoot for, so completing and ratifying our ruleset should be Priority One.

Jan 1st sounds good! we could have the official nation start at the first second of 2006! then we could have an independence day party at the start of each month!

Excet that it is 12 later in Illinois then it is in New Zealand.

January 1st is great.

We can get the 'non-changing' part of the Constitution ratified by Dec. 1st, as you said, and then have about 3 weeks to fill in the 'details'. This where all the polling comes in for settings, and deciding the internal aspects to fill in the framework.

concur we should start at the first possiable midnight. I will travle to gisborne and as the clock strikes 12 bang. (as you all know Gisborne is the first place to see the sunrise, i went their to party on 2000)

who ever is the first president will play it at thier time, gezz i mean it isnt so important, i dont care if its 2nd of december here, and i guess most of us day early people dont either

Well, we can certanly start. But expect me to take non-gaming jobs in the Demogame since I dont have Civ4 nor do I have the computer req to run it ;).

you could still have gaming jobs, you would have to calculate everything thats all.

If I do, then I would need a whole bunch of documents and tables to do the calculations with ;).
