Statue of Liberty....

Kinda brings to mind something that I think of now and then as someone who has surely rolled over a 1000 random games over the years. DeG is very rarely rolled as a leader. I've noticed certain leaders get rolled much more often than others (think Joao, Sitting Butt, Willem), but not sure if there is some sort of bias in the code - never checked for it. Would make an interesting separate topic. (Come to think of it, all the French leaders are rarely rolled, but seems DeG most of all) Joao by far is the most rolled leader that I recall - seems he pops up at least once in every session of rolled games...and he's the most boring.
I think the engine first picks AI Civ, then in case of multiple leaders it picks leader. That would make those you mentioned (Joao, Sitting B, Willem) three times as frequent as any random French leader.

DeG is my favorite opponent. You can steal as many workers as you want from him, because he very rarely has any friends that care if you declare on him, and he is very quick to take peace. But he is also a great leader to play yourself!

hmm..that is interesting. I just checked through the list of civs. It does seem that the sole leaders of civs pop up more than those of civs with multiple leaders. Monty is another very frequent role, as is Hannibal. Exceptions are Mansa and Shaka..they seem rare regardless, and I like to play them.

I've rolled Mansa 3 times in a row after playing a game where I picked him explicitly lol. I've also rolled Shaka twice this month. Joao is annoyingly common. I manually selected DeGaulle bc of this thread. I've never gotten a French leader randomly. Really I think in 7 years of random rolling...

When the game started I was shocked to see Agri and The Wheel... totally forgot the French start with them. And Musketeers fit a Cuirassier rush perfectly with their 2 moves. It's wild I've never tried them before on higher levels.

Yeah, it's just too bad that they don't keep their unique ability when upgraded. :D

I only build the SoL when I am on a big continent with Representation running otherwise I just steal it. Doesn't really matter because by then I am so far ahead that I can build it without any rush.

Sure on a huge continent it's well worth it. I play giant earth map mod probably half my games and it's super overpowered.

Wonders are as others said mostly a distraction but again it depends. For example, again on my specific mod some civs have tons of room to expand like America or Brazil. So Great Wall can be huge for them as they can ignore barbs. Great lighthouse can be as good for your economy as pyramids on certain maps. Oracle rush to pop a particular tech strat can be game winning.

But yes in general the only Wonder that's always good is pyramids. Rep that early is just too game breaking. All you need is writing then and you can tech anything and still expand like crazy.

I'm playing Roosevelt on the Earth 18 scenario and SoL is insanely broken. The entire world is at war, so I couldn't have many foreign trade routes. Rep + Merc + SoL with 75 cities on a single continent is ridiculous.

In a normal game, I would much prefer to have Kremlin instead of SoL.
