Stop research of techs!

Hello, i have a question, i do not know if it is a new oneor not. Is there a possibility of stoping the research at a certain point. For example, I don't want to enter the modern era or the industrialism era. Like the research of a new tehnology p[reatty much stops at future tech i was wandering if it can be stopped before.....

I want all civs to stop research...i thot that maybe there was a game hack, like stoping global warming to apear!

Kill them all. Can't think of any direct ways.

I believe you're going to need to do some modding, beyond my expertise. However, I would ask around in the mod forums about simply deleting the technologies in question. I, too, would _love_ a mod that only went up through 1800 or so, and then just kind of forced players into ether warfare tactics or diplomacy to win...
