I've seen this before.

A lot of people who theorize that aliens are responsible for civilization as we know it, cite this among other oddities as evidence.

The book 1421: The Year China Discovered America attempts to prove that Zheng He and his other explorers (can't remember their names atm) explored the area and charted the Piri Reis map between 1421 and 1423. From my opinion, it provides a good argument and explains why the knowledge was lost by the time of Columbus.
