I am using Cablevision's cable internet service. It has been behaving strangely for a few days.
Sometimes I type in a URL,and the browser came back reporting that 'the website cannot be found' or 'time out when connecting to the site', as if my computer is offline. But when I type in the game URL again, it generally works. I am sure the URL I type the first time is correct.
I don't think my Internet connection can be going on and off, because I am connected to AIM all the time, and I was able to stable connected throughout the whole time. Does anyone knows what can be causing this?

There is spyware on your computer, which has probably hooked itself as a browser addon. Which porn site did you visit? :mischief:

run microsoft anti-spyware. that should fix it.

make sure if u are using Internet Explorer. STOP. get mozilla its MUCH better.

This kind of thing happens to me every once and a while, mostly on CFC, it will just keep on loading the page for what seems like forever, but never get anywhere.
What I do is click the link again (or hit refresh if the URL is in the bar), if that doesn't work, then I close and restart IE. If it still doesn't work, then I tell MS to repair the wireless connection (not sure exactly what this does, but it disconnects and then reconnects) and that always fixes things for me.

It doesn't sound like anything to worry about. It's probably just the equivalent of a 'bad line' when trying to connect to the server. It happens to me sometimes. Just click the reload button.

If you get the 'website not found' for an extended period of time (and you typed correctly) then the server is probably down.

However, I am worried about this because the 'website not found' error doesn't not happen to one single site, it can happen to almost anysite that I visit, including my own site (check my signature). I am sure those sites are fine, because when I retype the URL a second time, it generally works. I am using Firefox mostly, however, the problem is not browser specific because IE also experiences the same problem.

Or, it could be the ISP router tables just re-routing, or something on the ISP's end. Also check your Internet Explorer network settings. Even if you don't use IE, it affects all programs that use the Internet.

Ok, thanks. I just downloaded Ad-adware, but the problem seen to persists. I will check IE and also call my ISP to see what's happening.
