I just received an unsolicited e-mail with a bizarre surreal title ...
 "it turnoff my zeppelin straitjacket" ... it was from a viagra peddler ... I can sort of figure out the imagery, but only just

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar strange titles ... This bloody thing came through my filters as well

That's the whole idea - to get through your filters.

Many e-mail spam filters use something called 'broysian filtiering' (I think that's the name, but I am probably wrong). They scan the text and count occurances of key-words compared to non-key words (I think). Eg - if it matches 'viagra' with 'cheap' and 'online', it will flag it as spam, unless there is enough other words to dilute it.

These strange titles are trying to fool the filter into letting it through.
