You can download and run speedfan program. Also Some graphic cards has a "temperature setting" option which shows your GPU temperature. If your GPU or CPU is overheating than check for dust build-up in the heatsinks.
a quick investigation of the control panel of my graphics card (ge6600 GT) revealed a GPU temperature monitor, next time a get the problem i shall review this
