I was just looking through the stuff in the civfolders.

Find your folder with the buildingslarge.pcx file, zoom in, and then go to the bottom and in letters like this it says...

beware the leopard

That's really weird... Anyone have any ideas as to why that's there? Here's a screenshot:

Before the end of time, Hagia Sophia will be given back and the Byzantine Empire shall rise again.

Hagia should be agia.... :)

You can PM them if they have an error in thier sig. :crazyeye:

"Beware the Leopard" is a reference to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." I have no idea how it fits in with Civ.

Well, the obvious answer is that the artist (at Breakaway) was a fan.

My uncounciousness must be a lot smarter than i cuz i dont understand a **** it says.

This is strange. It's the first subliminal message I've seen in this game. Anyone knows of any others

I don't know how old this is, but.....

Some of the forest terrain in the graphics section has the name "amanda" hidden in it as different coloured trees.

Also:

* There are cities named "Thunderfalls" and "Mingapulco", after the administrators of the two of the more well-known fan-sites.

* On Elvis' birthday, in the Play The World expansion pack, you can have access to an "Elvis" unit via the editor.

* When you have used all the city names for a civilization, the names are then repeated with "New" tacked on as a suffix. For the Turks, instead of "New Constantinople", the name is changed to "Not Istanbul" - an homage to the They Might Be Giants song.

Are you sure the vikings didn't actually had a city named Thunderfall. It doesn't sound wrong for a viking city.

No, 'Thunderfall' was put in PTW specifically because of TF.

Don't forget that a lot of the Japanese cities use 'Neo' instead of 'New'.

Yeah! EEGGS!
Look, at the bottom, that's mine! :p
I screwed up my name again!
But now I can post a reply about the Beware the green leopard!:p

It doesn't? It sounds English, not Scandinavian.

I mean that if I guess at what the name would sound like in danish before it was possibly translated it would sound like a city in scandinavia (trust me I'm danish so I should be able to translate it)

But I see you are right. It is because of TF. I just thought before that he got the idea for his name from that city. But, well I cant be right always ;)
