Right behind you!
I'm currently playing a game of WWII in the pacific, and I'm wondering what strategy I should use to win. Does anyone know a strategy for this Mod? I'm the Commonwealth by the way.

Anyone? I do think I may be able to win, but it would be better if I actually had a strategy.

The Commonwealth is the best of the allies to play, they have a lot
of cities which gives them reasonable production and the are a lot
closer to Japan than the USA.

One thing you need to do is crank up your science spending at the start
and get amphibious warfare as fast as you can. Also use airlifts to
reinforce Singapore and Burma.

I just began a game on this Conquest to see what it's like. You're right, they are the best. I did as you said and airlifted the units to those cities, but I have a question: Is there any way to save Hong Kong and that city 2 above Signapore (forgot it's name) from capture by the Japanese? Thnx!

My advice for playing this scenario: Study some history. This is a really neat conquests scenario...and its designer went to some trouble to make it 'historically accurate'. If you're playing as the Commonwealth you will want to focus on Burma/Indochina; as China, push Japan into the sea with ground troops and 'recapture' the Manchurian region... as America you should consider an "Island-hopping" campaign on the way to Japan...after you hammer the Japanese fleet at Midway Island...

...don't overlook the speed of the light tanks... and don't overlook the fact that transports can carry a unit!

Research what the AI won't so you can trade some techs with your allies... (I like Advanced Flight; Fighter-Bombers rock...)

Edit: As Commonwealth - don't forget to build some workers so you can get some airfields going. This will be your best bet for logistics.

Ok, thanks for your answers so far! I'm going to try to win this conquest, and I'm doing pretty good.

I have beaten this scenario with all the playable civs on Sid, so my advice may be pertinent. (It should really only be used for SP, for MP the ideas shift considerably.)
1.) Japan. Research to Marines, or if on Sid, Build the Intelligence agency and steal Amphib warfare. I do no research. Use your massive starting fleet to bomb Pearl Harbor. Lead with Zero's, then have Ships bombard, then finish with bombers. This will ensure the highest kill ratio. Then Leave the U.S. alone except to take the Philipines. Artillary really helps you go a long way in this scenario. I use massive naval bombard of cities, followed by Marines. I use my planes to attack ships, but I never build any additional planes as Japan. Always lead with Zero's, as they will take out other fighters, or be shot down by fighters first, leaving the much higher damage bombers to wreak havoc. Use your two starting armies to good effect. I like to make a Light tank army and a Combat engineer army. Use artillary to bombard and capture chinese cities. Cash rush lots of units and keep hitting China and East Asia until they are gone. Use the Island hopping techniques to take the phillipines, and various other Islands. You will win around turn 20.
2.) China. No research, ever, for any reason. I build a few factories, turn Ningsia into a one turn worker factory and start cranking Light tanks and artillary. Bombard units to the redline, finish them with tanks. Rinse and Repeat. You will get the snot bombed out of you. Don't let it bother you or make you switch to fighters or flak. Just keep up with the artillary and tanks, and you can catch the Jap planes on the Tarmac. You need a lot of workers to improve your land, and to rebuild after bombings.
3.) America. I do no research, and steal from my Allies. I build quite a few workers, usually 15, to improve my homeland. I hunt down the Jap fleet. I steal amphibious warfare, and Island hop towards mainland Japan. Airports or Airfields are a must. They allow the offensive to just keep rolling along. Take a jap city, airlift in 4 new marines, reload your transport and off you go. The Naval academy is useful. I never go for nukes. I also sell off some buildings, like civil defenses, courthouse in my capitol and the such. I have captured Tokyo this way on Sid. As always lead with your fighters. Heavy bombers are nice to get, and really take down ships quickly.
4.) Commonwealth. I do no research and steal what I need. I use lots of workers to improve Australia. I build airports, and fly units to Singapore. The Japs will bomb Singapore heavily, but if you get 5-6 fighters on air superiority in the first 2-3 turns, the bombers will be spending a lot of time falling out of the sky. I use Artillary and Anzac infantry. I bombard a city and then attack with 4-6 Anzacs, and am able to send in 4-6 new Anzacs a turn. Use your fleet to bombard then sink his fleet. Your cities are a mess and you must Micro them. Most have totally worthless buildings. Sell them off to get real infrastructure in cities that matter. Rush units and Steal techs. Intelligence agency is really important, Naval academy not as much.
These tips should help players out. New tips are always appreciated.

Win within 8 turns as the Japanese. You will probably win in the first 15 turns or not at all.

Yea, it is possible. Just google the Forum - it is not that difficult either.

Thanks for the tips :goodjob: , no wonder you win every time with such great
strategy ;) . One question though: What would be your strategy if you did
not steal techs as the allies  ??? Just curious. Also which country
do you find the most difficult to play and the most fun? :scan:

If you do not want to steal from your allies, you can plant spies and steal from the opponents. America is really the only nation that needs new techs, and they need only Amphibious warfare for my strategies. America is for me the most fun to play, just because I am an American, and they really dictate the terms of combat in the scenario. America gets to choose where to take the combat, South Asia, Japan, Island hopping, or just generally reinforcing the other Allies.
China was for me the most intense, because there is the very real danger of being overrun very quickly. This scenario features the only time I have every seen an AI use armies even semi-effectively, as the Japs start with 2 armies, and while they only use 1 at a time, it can get really hairy.
The commonwealth on Sid can get really exciting at times, just due to the sheer volume of Japanese stuff.
Incidently I am trying to put together some WW2 Pacific teams in the following thread.
