Strength

If you mean bonusses/penalties against units in certain terrain or units in cities, then I agree. We could, for instance, give tanks a penalty when attacking a city and infantry a bonus (think about molotov cocktails). And maybe tanks a bonus in flat terrain (although they're already a strong attacking unit in such terrain)

EDIT: Sorry, I somehow double posted

Ah, you mean the famous rock-paper-scissors game.
That could be done. They did implement it in CivIII, the boardgame, so why not. The boardgame is more limited in almost every other way (it takes too much time too play the computergame in all its facets on a board).

It's a good idea, and not that difficult, I think. But they won't do it for CivIII (too big a change), maybe Civ4. We can only hope. Maybe they can put it in the editor of CivIII, I hope so.

But I say anyone know the Age of Empires. Where you had to know which was the best unit to attack another unit with v.complex. A simplified version might be ok. I definitely find it strange that to defend on grassland and desert is the same bonus of 10%. Kinda funny..

Great Idea Cookie_monster!
Here is another example:
subs>destroyers
destroyers>cruisers
cruisers>subs

This has been suggested before and I'm in support of this. Pikes gets defensive bonus vs. mounted units etc.

But the battle engine would have to be re-written to allow this. Which means it's not going to happen.

I'll be just as happy if they went they spent a quarter of the resources they might have spent revambing the entire battle engine and spent it on improving the AI battle tactics and teaching the AI to use varied patterns of attack.

This is the wrong way around, isn't it?

Cruisers crush destroyers, destroyers destroy subs and subs sink Cruisers, would be more like it.
