Strongest/most unbalanced civ in human hands?

Sheaim, Tebryn Arbandi. Early adepts+pyre zombie for a rush, and don't forget witches (fireballs and stuff). :)

Most are already mentioned, but i'll throw in my two cents anyway:

Lanun: best economy out of the gate, expecially under hanna.
Svalts: forest economy + Azalkan's mirror.
Calabim: why stick with 1 unbeatable hero, when you can pump out an army of 'em? In my recent calabim game, i won a conquest victory on a large map with 4 vampire lords, over 1k exp each, as well as 4 brujah's and about a dozen normal vampires of 200 exp+. Raze these guys early or be steamrolled.
Kurio->infernals. Do it right, and you can get hybbie out when most AI's have only just reached axemen. Annex an AI empire and you've got an economy.

True, all the civs are good in their own way especially when ran by a human. Still, the Malakim, or Doviello, or Amurites etc cant really compare to the Pirate/elf economy, or a Pyre Zombie rush. Even the Grigori get out heroed by Vampiric Paladins and stuff.

I was going to say Amurites, Valledia the Evan, because they're one of the civs I am able to go on early, enormous conquests with. It might be because I just like magic so much in this game, and spend a lot of my early period hunting down mana. Every game with the Amurites I've won as a conquest one... never did that with the Lanun, of course, I've never tried that with them.

Maybe this just makes it clearer, the best civ in human hands is all of them. The AI even plays the Infernals horribly.

Its true that Paladins are probably the Earliest Uber you can use for Vampires ... atlhough heavily fed, city raider 3 paladins (lost the melee unit class so less vulnerable to anti-melee promos), with the obvious combat and drill promos - while narly- lead to ethical questions of Order Vampires :P

That being said ... back when MP was done with One City challenge and Unrestricted leaders, a Cardith Lorda Calabim ran by Order was da bomb, and Vampire Paladins were my favorite toy :D

Tasunke with Hippus. Crazy powerful, especially with their worldspell. I simply do not like the raider trait at all. I think commando was given after combat 4 in vanilla civ for a reason.

The Ai uses them OK, but nothing like a human can.

Well, if we are talking about killing one other civ as soon as possible ... then yea the Hippus are definitely the best.

It's only under MOST circumstances that they can go on to take over all the other civs no contest :p

I started playing FFH2 again after a long long period of forgetting about CIV4..

I didn't understand how it was that when I got lanun suddenly all my cities are 20pop and I'm destroying everything in sight without even trying, even though their unique units are crap.

Man, that food bonus is *HUGE*

Also, I always play games with 17 (or was it 16?) other civs and if I don't get lanun, then the AI lanun is always, always the biggest strongest faction.

Aye ... the Lanun always has an uber economy, dats fer sure.

I just today found out how the Mechs Howitzers are INSANE...Upgrade them for ranged bombardment and they will get range 3, commando on enemy roads and movement 3 for triple bombarbment each turn. And oh the good part; they can kill units - you do not even need to engage in actual combat. The computer just sits in their city until you wiped them all out and you can walk into an empty city.

Are Mech Howitzers in Vanilla or in some other Mod?

You gave them a unit called Howitzer .....

Thats more than just thinly veiled my friend.

Mechs Howitzers? Sounds like a Luchiurp UU, but I've never actually played them and the AI tends to die too soon. What civ's got them?
I like the idea of walking into an empty, bombed-out city. :)

Edit:

The Mechanos are from Orbis, and are now in FFPlus as well.
Ach! Two dedicated sub-forums for two major mods, yet it keeps constantly spewing over into the main forum. Bad Skallben! Bad!

Oh yeah, I mixed up the forums haha. I played Orbis, the Mechs aint in vanilla...I'd say if played right they are all imba in human hands. Build size 100 cities with Cardith Lorda or Hyborem and figure...Strategically I'm still opposed to raider trait as it is currently. Raider trait+cavalry+mobility, it is just madly overpowered, especially Tasunke who got bonus moves for horsies.

Sidar.

Just make sure someone is always attacking you.

Not. giving up one of your few level six units for a GP, vs a human, is suicide. I have learned this one time too many. Only if the game goes on for more than 200 turns does waning start to become a viable strategy, and by then, the better handled civs like hippus and sheaim have already won.

Pretty much. But I do like the raider trait for them, especially when it comes to the mounted units. Lore wise I imagine their horseman having no problem ridng through enemy territory just as fast as friendly territory.

Infernals via Sheaim Infernal Pact Beeline.

I've done it,and no civ could stand up to my Champions and Hyborem with simple Warriors and Archers.
