Pathfinder was an excellent UU, and I am hoping there will be some version of a recon UU in the game. Given how strong and prolific Barbs are on Prince, I would think ancient era UU have a massive importance. Certainly no game - breaking move and shoot UUs yet.

Who knows, maybe that Chinese early cannon will be super valuable because range usually is, even just one-tile range now

Yes and no. Strong and prolific barbs seem to be a feature. That particular bug that Beach was talking about was for one build and made it worse but we don't know what balancing will mean for how "strong and prolific" barbs will be at release. They are certainly intended to not be as weak as in Civ V - which is why there is no current raging barbarians option.

He did say in the exact same stream that the barbs were more aggressive than normal in the first part of that game... but it was fixed in the part we actually watched. It was also correct in the previous builds. It was only in the beginning part of that stream that we didn't even get to watch that they were spawning at 8 times the rate.
 
You should add Ngao Mbeba, they are quite powerfull, forest and jungle will be a good use for them and defense from ranged attack enemy units.
That is why it was too soon for this thread. There are still more uniques to be announced (officially) and we have yet to determine their strengths. They could "change the game" completely.

it's still interesting up to now what we felt like being the strongest ones. Of course, there will be a new thread in a few weeks when all UUs are revealed. And maybe another one a few weeks after release.
 
I'd consider voting on Kongolese unit. No iron required, free forest movement and defence vs ranged attacks mean it is probably going to be the nightmare to fight using ranged units (which are usual counter of swordmen).
