I was playing a game of OCC today and look what happened.

First one of the Egyptian cities decided to join me, basically destroying my game of OCC... Shortly after that I build Apollo's wonder and I saw two towns from the Egyptians nearby just build right next to eachother. I'm always curious on how the other civs did so I checked out the rest of the world and guess what, the Zulus did the same thing: also two cities build right next to eachother!
STUPID AI!!!
:D

WOH! I've never seen that =P 'course I use the SNES version. =D But, WOH.. that looks.. different.. weird, almost.. It shows the names of all the cities and such.. in the SNES version, it only shows the name of a city when the cursor is over the city.. and unfortunately you can't see the city name unless the tiles where the city name appears are opened up. And the graphics look very different as well..

hmm.. perhaps I should upload some Civ 1 SNES screenshots..

This is not the normal situation, I've build Apollo's wonder and then all the cities are shown. Before you build this wonder it's all black out there!

It's been years since I've played Civ I but I do remember that happening to me on occasion. I seem to remember I turned it to my advantage once by having a town next to mine and every time I attacked another nof his towns I'd pop in the diplomat to speak with the King and force peace (I had Great Wall or UN(?) ).:rotfl:

Yeah, ame in the SNES version, but I was reffering to the names of the cities. And when a city is surrounded by blackness, the city name can't be seen. (It's like the game shows the city names BEHIND any black tiles.. that's something I should probably try to make a screenshot of.. won't take long..

LOL!! I do the same thing, although I've never had cities THAT close to each-other.. =P Usually all I have to do is send out a unit from a city and find the nearest enemy unit.

Is it just me, or does the enemy ALWAYS want to have a diplomatic meeting at the first contact after I take a city from him..?

This is what I was reffering to with city names. The names only show up when the cursor is over them, and if they have black tiles around them the names won't always be visible.

(boy that looks small.. I'm used to seeing it zoomed in at 300% or so =P)

You're allowing the AI to build a city next to yours?
AI is always at a safe distance from me, I like to see them on another continent but when I play OCC I allow them to be 3 or 4 squares from my city. As long as they are not using my tiles I just let their pathetic cities exist. If they violate my living space: :slay:
 :D

Wow I played many games over the years and I saw it often that civs build their cities close to each other but all the time still one square in between never saw something like this (next to each other). Well poor AI no wonder they loose all the time ;)
