I've created a very basic mod which consists of just a map file.

I've gone through the steps to submit it to the Steam workshop and I see that it has a status of published.

The strange thing is, I don't see it visible on the Steam workshop website.

Do mods need to be approved by Steam first? It's been a couple days now so I would think it would be up there already if that were the case.

Mods on steam aren't 'curated' or 'held for approval'. If they upload sucessfully they'll be viewable at once when you look for them by the 'Recent Items' option when you browse for mods. Also as a mod author when you start up steam and then click 'browse the workshop' for CIV5, you should see your steam avatar toward the upper right with 'Your Workshop Files' as a clickable button to push. If you don't see that, you can also check your steam user profile to see if it says you have any items uploaded to the steam workshop. Next to Workshop Items would be a number with how many items you've uploaded. My guess is it didn't actually get uploaded to steam for some reason, or some other bizarre thing happened. I looked for your map mod and couldn't find it either.

Did you make sure to enter your steam workshop user name in the mod for 'author' before you uploaded? Maybe this might cause a problem if you forgot to do so, and steam can't associate your mod to any user profile name.

About the only way a mod gets 'moderated' on steam is if it's reported by users as being, well, 'icky', to use a euphemism, or is in some way eggregiously offensive. I've come across a half-dozen or so such mods when I've done oddball searches on the steam workshop, but as a general rule mods are only removed or 'quarantined' if, as i say, they're 'icky' or super offensive in some way, or are an outright and obvious violation of someone's copyrighted material (such as using artwork or such from another game entirely).

Alright, thanks for the heads up. I noticed it gave me this banner on the page for my map -

"Action required
You need to agree to the latest version of the Steam Workshop Agreement before your item can be fully published to the Steam Workshop."

For whatever reason, that was only visible on that page and nowhere else.
