OK, there's a rule! Don't name cities after you until the SECOND round!

4000 B.C.
A group of 10,000 people, decide to benefit from their knowledge of irrigation, and found a city called Berlin. This group of people, calls themselves Germans, after the name of the country. The people feel that they are standing in the beginning of a new era, an era that will change the world forever. As for here, the legend of the Germans begins, with the newly chosen leader: Kevin I.

3950 B.C.
Kevin I is training a few of his people the arts of war he learned on one of his long hunting trips. He's teaching them how to use a part of a tree to hit someone.

3900 B.C.
The training continues. Now the villagers learn how to throw stones as effective as possible.

3850 B.C.
This time, the knowledge of fighting with hands is thought to the people.

3800 B.C.
Skills with spears are trained, one man is doing remarkable well. His name is Carl. Kevin I decides he will lead the troops that will go explore, now.

3750 B.C.
The English civilization is destroyed by the Indians. Who are these people we hear about?
The newly trained warriors walk into an abandoned city, finding a stone with letters on it. Kevin I is the only one who can read it, as his civilization doesn't know the alphabet. The Warrior Code is told int twenty steps. Kevin I intends to teach them to his people, sometime.

3700 B.C.
The warriors continue to explore. Settlers production is starting in Berlin. Kevin I is thinking, who will take care of my people when I'm not on this world anymore? He had severale candidates, but he coudln't choose.

3650 B.C.
More exploring. Warriors follow the coast, discovering land where cities could have great benefit from.

3600 B.C.
A village is in sight. Hopefully there are friendly people living in it.

3550 B.C.
As the warriors walk in to the village, telling the story of their civilization, the people in the village are eager to join them. The city of Leipzig is founded.

3500 B.C.
The warriors are home sick and they walk back towards Berlin

3450 B.C.
Hills are explored nearby Berlin. We could benefit from them later.

3400 B.C.
A forest filled with pheasants is explored near the hills of Berlin.

3350 B.C.
The warriors decide not to go back to Berlin, but to explore the country more to the north-west. Kevin I has made up his mind; the new leader of the Germans shall be Carl, leader of the warrior group, named 'the Flatlander' (because of the land his farm is build on).

3300 B.C.
The last year of the reign of Kevin I. Kevin I dies in an fishing accident, and Carl 'the Flatlander' is the new leader of the German Empire. Settlers are almost finished in Berlin, and Leipzig too has started building settlers. Kevin I will forver be known as 'THE FOUNDER'.

NOTE: You may name NEW cities after you, but only in the SECOND round!

Hey, I finished my turns but have NOOO time to write about it...

I'm gonna send it to you Hakan and then will update....

Not much happened I'll tell you that much.
smile.gif

Yes I have it. And to tell the truth, I had forgotten all about it! But I will play my turns right now!

------------------
<IMG SRC="http://w1.316.telia.com/~u31613053/sign.gif" border=0>

I have been "out of the net" the last couple of days, and have time only for a short synopsis of my reign:
The beginning (First five turns) Took over the reins of power and promptly began a trek across the continent in search of new lands. My band of hardy warriors found a hut and were delighted when a legion was convinced to join our empire. (We all wonder what that shiny stuff is on their sharp pointy things in their hands)
Confident, the legion heads south, while the band of warriors heads north.
The middle: (Next five turns) My merry band of warriors find another hut!!! Then they are promptly massacred by a horde of barbarians. This is where life gets tricky. I was very afraid that there would be no game to send to Hakan because of the advancing Horde and my lack of fundage to rush build stuff.
The end: (Last five turns) My studly legions outwit and outsmart the barbs into attacking them in the forest. Then my legion counter attacks near the new city of Hamburg. My legion lives and is actually in pretty good shape. The barbs die (One is still out there) and I am known everywhere as the Carl Der Grossartig, Savior of the Civilization of the Germans. My name would go down in history as the greatest king, except for the fact that our people can't write. Carl lives to old age, and invents Hefeweisen und Bratwurst.
smile.gif

Real thoughts: BOOOOORING!!!!! But at the same time I realize that I could have lost the whole civ quickly. I had no cash and barbs coming quick. I got lucky, because the fourth one went the other way.

Playing fifteen turns at the beginning of a game is pretty un-exciting, especially when you have two units. I would have been done very quickly had it not been for my generator running out of fuel and me having to shut my laptop down. Good luck Hakon!!!!

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at THAT man.

This is wath happen during the first Håkan Eriksson dynasty!

2500 B.C.

After some exploritations were made we found a natural recourse of fish in side the Leipzig cityarea!

After a look at the cities the Emperor Håkan Eriksson saw that no city were producing any sience!! The taxrate were emediantly changed from a 50% tax and 50% science to a 40 % tax and 60% sience. By doing this we get a disscovery every 15 insted of no disscoveries at all. But now we also get no gold insted of three gold. But that must we take to get sience.

2450 B.C.

Because of the tax change can we now set our wise men to try to disscover the seacret of Alphabet.

The capital Berlin builds a setteler. The setteler were sent to found a city to the west.

And after some changes of workers in Leipzig. We now get disscoveries every 9 turn and one gold every turn.

The setteler near Leipzig were orderd to star build a road to get a higher trade.

2350 B.C.

First pice of road were finished.

2300 B.C.

The setteler near Leipzig were set to find a good city spot to found a new city on.

2250 B.C.

The second setteler found a pretty good spot to found a city.

2200 B.C.

The city of Konigsberg were founded Northwest from the capital. Now we get sience every 6 turn and two gold every turn.

2150 B.C.

Pliny completes his epic history "the most advanced civilizations in the world". But we are only in 6 place!
frown.gif
He calls us "the pathetic civilization of the Germans".

2100 B.C.

German wise men disscover the secret of Alphabet! And the German are now set to prusue the searching of something called Ceremonial Burial!

The population of the ferteil German empier now excedes 100,000 citizens!

A vilage (a hut) were spotted near Konigsberg!

2000 B.C.

Hamburg builds a setteler!

The mighty German Legion enterd the village. They kiled every men they could found raped thier whomen and burned thier village down to the ground. And when they later were searching thro the asshes of the vilage they found a black box. And when they looked inside the box they found so strange papers. And after the wise men had looked on the papers they annonced that this was the secret of writing! They soon learnd to write after they had studied the paers. And now can we build Libraries to pase this knowledge to the people. And we can also educate people to become Diplomats!

1950 B.C.

Some exploring were made.

Both Hamburg and Konigsberg had finishd training warriors to defend the cities.

And the production of two Libraries started.

One of our settelers found a good spot for a city.

1850 B.C.

Leipzig builds settelers and then starts to build irrigation. In the city the production of a Library started.

The city of Frankfurt were founded to the south. Inside the city area is there two natural resorces.

1800 and 1750 B.C.

The Legion found a river and strated to folowed it to the unknown areas.

1700 B.C.

The bouilding of the road betwenne Hamburg and Berlin were started.

1650 B.C.

The irrigation outside Leipzig were finished.

At the end of 1650 B.C. the old Emperor Håkan Eriksson died after a period of illnes. He left a big emptines after him and the people were sad and depressed. How should they now manage to go on as a people without a strong leader? Håkan Eriksson had been theier leader for over 900 years! Will the next leader be good enugh?

<hr>

PS 1. Flatlander, don't callme Hakon. Since my name is Håkan and there is a nother one here that have the name Håkon. It could be a littel confusing in you wirte it like that. Use Håkan, Hakan or Haakan instead.
smile.gif

Go Germans!

Edit notes:
1. I will send it to Smash according to the sign-up.
2. Are we playing blind or do we know difficluty level, map size, number of rivals, etc.?

Researchers have described the time of early Germany from approximately 1600 BC until approximately 950 BC as a relatively peaceful period. Generally, they existed in a government form that can best be compared to a despotism in our modern era. Still, the leader that has been generally associated with this time – one simply named Kev – made great strides to bring laws and ceremony to his people in an effort to establish a new government form. Of course, this leader (scholars say) must have actually been a group of leaders who took the name “Kev” out of superstition or respect for the original. Indeed, it is unlikely that Kev I would have lived to be 650 years old.

With the advent of writing, scribes were becoming very important, and early efforts at libraries were even alluded to at this early stage. To date, the Civilization Papers is the greatest collection that we have today telling us of this time in German history. While the scribes are never named, it is apparent that they were all very close to their leaders and wrote about them with great respect. Indeed, the scribe himself, had he been singular, would have been even older that our 650 year old Kev I.

Following are the brief translations. The dates are those ascribed by historians and they are estimations as well. This is why they are given in 50-year increments.

1600 BC:
Leader hears from his mighty legion and shows many teeth. The river they follow led to village and there the strange people bury their dead in the ground and have a great ceremony. “We need to do this,” says the wise Kev, and now we put all dead in ground and have ceremonies.
Leader tells wise people to write that down as rule. He says to write other rules about other things as well and make them a code for people. A Code of Laws our creative leader proclaims.

1550:
Our leader says more explore and more build. He sees people that can dig water and people who make road things in the land. He asks “can you build stuff” and they say yes. “Build cities! Go West and build cities for German’s glory”. Settle people head west to obey great leader.
High Council in Berlin. All want more – fight people, currency (whatever that is), science, exploration, luxuries. Leader beats me in frustration. Wise leader.

1500:
Our land looks like has many places to build. Need settle people and leader nods head in his wise fashion.

1450:
Some strange man tells leader of far off place where people called Chinese are building things called Pyramids. Sounds to leader like man has been licking the local frogs. He beats me anyway not knowing why Germans don’t build strange things that he has never heard of.
Ahhh. Wise smart people present leader with his code of laws this year and beating loyal scribe is a bad thing. Leader says OK and that his hand hurt anyway. So wise. He proclaims, “Let us develop a new form of leadership for future Kev’s to lead the people. Call it Monarchy because I like the way that word sounds”.

1400:
“Libraries too big. Take too long. Cost money. No libraries yet – build temples instead.” The people do the leader’s bidding.
“Hamburg – you no train archers. You train diplomat. Diplomat move faster, explore more land. Use tongue of silver to help Germany”

1350:
Berlin builds a temple. People say “ooh” and then “aah”. Happy people there. Leader makes Berlin people to build giant statue – a colossal statue. “If Berlin people want to build something like the Pyramid thingys or something else then let them later.”

1300:
Leader says, “You settle people. You in nice place there. Build city soon.” Other settle people still moving west. Leader smart.

1250:
Settle people finish city and leader names it Munich. Leader shows many teeth.

1200:
Our mighty legion see another village. Leader says enter but wisely warns: be careful.

1150:
Village is full of settle people who have no home now that legion stepped on the village. They see that leader is smart and leader asks if they know how to make roads, make water on the land and to dig the hills. They do and our leader invites the nomads to do these things. Kev calls them the “nomads who wander”. Clever leader.

1100:
There is much to be found as the Germans explore. Whales and stuff and black rocks in the hills other stuff and food places and something leader calls “a bubblin’ crude”. “We should build by that stuff and use that stuff,” boldly claims the mighty leader.

1050:
“You settle people, you stop there. No, not you nomads, the settle people there. That is a good city place. Build there soon.” I feel honored to have recorded these words from the toothy mouth of our leader.

1000:
Heidelburg is founded. “And it only took you 50 years to build,” says the leader. It would seem that our leader has discovered the advance of sarcasm, but it does not help to advance the people.
The wise leader gives money to Frankfurt to finish the training of settle people. “Perhaps they can go toward the forest with the white silky stuff. Because it is so silky, I think that I will name it ‘silk’,” says the leader.

975:
The settle people move out toward silky place. The legion tells the leader that they see yet another village.

950:
In the village are mighty people who travel fast on things they call chariots. They are mighty. They see the leader is wise and wish to fight for him against his enemies. Koningsberg will help to support them. The leader wonders what the rolly things on the sides of these “chariots” are called. “Some day we’ll figure out these mysteries,” he so wisely claims.
In this year, a smart person tells leader that Germans are very close to giving leader the Monarchy that he requested and the leader shows many teeth for a long time. We then discover soon that leader has been dead for a time and we bury him with much ceremony. I am a sad scribe and will die soon too with ceremony. New leader will be wise and smart too, but will have to find own scribe.

OK, that’s it. On to Smash.

Things to consider:
1. We are inches away from Monarchy and will likely see more growth and prosperity soon!
2. Frankfurt may actually be a better place for a science city with a whale and a silk. You may not want to have the settler from Frankfurt settle on the other, nearby silk tile as the new city there may encroach on Frankfurt – but not that much if you do.
3. With that in mind, the next “leaders” may want to change the wonder Berlin is building.

Ahh, that’s enough. Smash can take care of himself

game sent to SunTzu

Frederick orders The Great Sage to complete his research immediately.

“The oedo cycle is upon us.Only once every hundred years,do the God’s smile upon my family in such a way.I will be your king in 925”

..and so it was.A noble Monarchy to lead the Germanic people in their Manifest Destiny was established in 925 bc.
The positive effects were immediate. The entire Kingdom gained benefit from their King.

New cities were founded as the King’s influence spread.Nuremburg and Cologne were established.Settlers were promised lands and sent to form homesteads near the 2 new towns.1 particular site was to be settled after the river basins. There were large cornfeilds, whales and a strange black liquid that could benefit 1 city. The Great Sage noted that cornfeilds would turn to silk forests in 5 seasons and he would be able to create wonderous new magic in such a city....

A ship flying a strange yellow flag appeared briefly off the as yet settled northern coast. The King was filled with deep concern. For it was now apparent, the great German nation was not alone!
The distant plumes of smoke HAD been from the fires of infidel encampments and not volcanos as The Mediocre Sage had stated.Undoubtedly, making plans to destroy our empire.

We must be ready to defend that which is ours

wise words from Frederick.Would they be heeded?

The skillful diplomat Wilhelm the Wise recruited an entire legion to protect us from the unknown infidels. They were sent to garrison Nuremburg.
Our chariot division laid seige to a small village.By sunset that same day,the inhabitants had wisely decided to join our ranks. They were without chariots but they had horses and Frederick was pleased. These horsemen eventually reached the sea to the east. Our land was surrounded by the mighty sea.
It will serve us well.Like a moat that surrounds a castle

Another small village offered 50 gold in ransom and was spared.

A new phalanx division was conscripted and trained in Hamburg. They were ordered to Berlin to personally guard the Royal Palace. The King was so impressed with the Hamburgers <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/smile.gif" border=0> that he ordered facilities built to train more of the city’s men for military service.

A new way to chart our land was discovered.Frederick insisted this would be best accomplished by looking at our land from the water.Craft resembling that which had appeared in the north were designed and construction began.

"We need that which will both please the people and aid us as we increase our sphere of influence"

The Somewhat Impressive Sage promised the King he would deliver a grand scheme to the Palace in 8 moons...

The King promised he would once again bestow the title of Great if successful.

Why are you playing Succession Game #1 and #2 at the same time?? Couldn't you finish #1 first, you risk that someone will have #1 and #2 to play!

Actually Hakon, I would LOVE it if I had two to play! I don't think it would greatly interfere or delay anything. These succession games are great and I'll join as many as I can in the future!!

Though I suppose to get 10 or 12 sent to you at once could be an issue...
