Hello everyone, first-time poster, been lurking for awhile. Great forum
Anyway, I've been reading all these horror stories about Civ 4 not running, constantly crashing, and so on. I don't have the top of the line system, but I've had very few problems... just the very rare CTD, and that's usually on the weekend when I've been playing like 5+ hours straight...
My suggestion is to download Prime95 and run the torture test. If your system passes it for 4+ hours straight, then its definetly one of the Civ 4 bugs thats got you. If your system fails the test, you need to figure out why (might be a faulty RAM stick, that huge colony of dust bunnies in your case
, temperature issues, etc). It's not unusual for a computer to run perfectly fine under 'normal load', but start strange behaviors with a heavy load.
I realize this probably won't help many people, but its worth a shot... check your computer before cursing the devs
Hopefully the patch comes out soon!
