Suggestion - units in continuity mode

To smooth the transition between eras, especially between Antiquity and Exploration, I would also adjust the units, regarding continuity mode. In Exploration, for example, boats don't evolve but remain from the Ancient Era, and until the right technology is discovered, these boats cannot enter the ocean. I would also keep the remaining units from the Ancient Era class and create technologies to make them evolve. This would provide a greater sense of continuity and a bit more effort to ensure that units are always competitive.

I think that would push me further to liking continuity. Basically instead of getting the Tier 1 unit for free, you stick with the "Tier 0" unit, which would be the higher tier unit from the previous era. Sure, upgrade my galleys to quadriremes if you want to simplify, but maybe set them up so their base cost is some very low value, so it costs you at least 300 or 400 to upgrade into a cog. So if you bring a lot of units forward, it still costs you a good chunk of change to get to the new baseline units.

As a continuity player, I rarely have time to set up much for the next age. If I used longer ages that would be totally unfair, but, for example, I only managed to bring over four ships, one trader, and one settler from Antiquity. I would have kept my military units regardless because I had enough commander space.

Exactly. This would slow down ocean exploration in the early turns of the era, require gold for increased military strength, and provide a greater sense of continuity. The time jumps between eras are too sharp in my opinion.
