Suicide?

Boy do I understand. I am currently fighting a three front war and the other AI will not help no matter what I offer. The crazy thing is that I am much stronger and just keep killing them off until mostly they have conscripts then I take another couple cities. Then they offer peace, but they want everything I have. The AI does not seem to recognize the fact that it is loosing big time. Oh well:aargh:

What I find annoying is when all the ai are inter allied, so if one declares war on you and you retaliate, they all declare war.

If your playing MGE, as opposed to civ2 classic, the normal ai state is war with you. If you want a "peaceful" game, try playing classic. If you want war, go with gold. However, in both versions, if you attack an ai civ that is allied with another, the other civ will always declare war on you too. Likewise, if you have ai allies, they will declare war on an ai that attacks you. Afterall, thats what allies are for.

I usually stay peaceful in the game until I'm attacked, and don't give in to any demands other civs have. And if a civ attacks me, I'll retaliate, until their entire civilization is destroyed. I don't care how often they beg me to stop, they attacked me first & they will pay for it. This unforgiving attitude usually scares off other civlizations from daring to upset me for a good long while :D

I use the same strategy! Except, I'll let them make peace with me if they offer all their gold (I have a BIT of compassion  ). That rarely happens though.

I do that too, but what i do, is build about 2-3 units per city (4-5 maybe 6 in ma capital) aswell as build Walls. It makes your cities quite difficult to be attacked. But hey, aint war hell?

War would be hell if I spent that much on an entirely defensive effort! ;)

The best defense is a good offense - especially in this game. The offensive units have the advantage. Be smart about it, but take the fight to the other civs.

Maybe that has been my problem. I spend too much time getting my cities well defended. I have won a few games by killing off the other civs, but not many. I shall try to be more agressive for a while and see what happens.
