This is a gameplay thread so there is no need to complicate things with in character discussions. However, as we have a state religion, surely we should prioritise buildings for that before other religions. I do not know if the city in question had hinduism though to allow us to build a hindu temple for what sounds like much needed culture.

Have we got monastaries (gone completely blank on the spelling there) for the other religions though so we can spread them later if we want to?

All former Babylonian cities are indeed Hinduism. Its simply good gameplay to build the buildings of your own state religion, not the other way around.

@Diamondeye- Yes, we are building a Hindu Cathedral.

Babylon already had a Hindu temple, so the Taoist Temple was not prioritized.
Like I said before, Babylon is 4% Aretanian and it neede the culture to expand. They're already asking to re-join Babylon.

Good job on the turnchat Civplayah, though I hear the Harbormasters have a heavy price on your head  . We all make mistakes so don't let it get to you. Hiwever, the tech-path was set and you should have followed it.

@Diamondeye in EG Hall- Everyone should be treated equal- even Taos. What's good for the heart is good for the mind. If we massacre the Taos, will we be thought of as monsters? As fundamentalists? As human rights violaters? I'm not demanding anything, but the good Taos in Babylon are pleading with me. Please, I urge you to reconsider your thoughts about the Taos. They're people. They have lives. They have families. They have souls. If they are executed, they will not go to the happiest place, but they will remain on Earth.

Honarary Clerk of the Relm,

I say YAY!!! We are not political monsters! I should know Vandal the Burning was a Pagan till the bitter end, we must be open to all religions! With more culture spreading the farther our Kingdom shall reach! With enough culture we may be able to border Gahndi! But in order for that culture to spread we must become peaceful with the other religions.

Could anyone point me to the most recent save?

Also, I'm delighted to see start times mentioned in Dutch time :)

@Provo, It may be in the 1500's, but we are capable of adjusting. We also have liberalism, and are capable of having free speech, free market, and free religion. Remeber Greece, the first democracy? It was around way before the 1500's. We can have the first tolerant nation, the best nation. Ergo, we can let these people be free and let them prosper in their own ways. You guys are acting fundamentalist. The Aretanian empire is not a theocracy, so it should stop acting like one. They try to live their life in "tune" with the Tao, a force that is present in all things, yet greater than all things. If we demolish and cease to build Tao institutions, they won't live their life the way it's supposed to be lived. Think of all the things that the Taoists had to go through- soldiers marching into their homes, having their family members die etc, etc- and what they're going through now. Some were forced to move, and now, they aren't even free in the greatest nation on Earth. All I'm asking is that we tolerate them, and respect their culture and institutions.

Sorry if this post seems a bit pissed or cynical, at least.

It may be in the 1500's, but we are capable of adjusting. We also have liberalism, and are capable of having free speech, free market, and free religion.

Well yes, we have the options, but that does not mean we are forced to use them.

Remeber Greece, the first democracy? It was around way before the 1500's. We can have the first tolerant nation, the best nation.

You are mixing up things here. The most tolerant nation is not per defination the best nation. Perhaps I and Provo have a different view on what makes our nation superior

Ergo, we can let these people be free and let them prosper in their own ways.

We can. But don't we want to be in control? Isn't that why we invaded them? For us to be rich we need someone to be poor. Why not them, they've lost their freedom to us anyway.

You guys are acting fundamentalist. The Aretanian empire is not a theocracy

That can be changed - should be changed.

so it should stop acting like one. They try to live their life in "tune" with the Tao, a force that is present in all things, yet greater than all things.

This is a democracy game. The majority decides whether we "try to live in tune with the tao". It seems there are atleast some against. Would you stop sounding as if your arguments are self-explanatory and need no explanation, it seems arrogant to me.

If we demolish and cease to build Tao institutions, they won't live their life the way it's supposed to be lived. Think of all the things that the Taoists had to go through- soldiers marching into their homes, having their family members die etc, etc- and what they're going through now.

We did what we had to. If they wouldn't be feeling like that, we could. I know what I prefer.

Some were forced to move, and now, they aren't even free in the greatest nation on Earth. All I'm asking is that we tolerate them, and respect their culture and institutions.

Well. If they are to be in the greatest nation on earth, they have to give up something. Let that be their own individual culture. They cannot be part of the Aretanian empire as long as they strive to return to Babylonian control.

Why don't we run our country on what we want over what others have done?

Well, I have a different vision than the Kombayahmahooh UN political correctness game.

Maybe I am wicked, but I like it dark and fun.

Yes High Marshal, we are a Theocratic war machine hell bent on spreading the Ibbinise faith either through intimidation or brute force. Slaughtering our own citizens to create missionaries is not the acts of a tolerant nation. As King I will be fair to Aretans and conquered Babylonians that accept our faith as the one and only true religion. Taoist seperatists will be fed to the lions and made an example of.

Now THAT'S comedy!

How did you get so coorporative all of a sudden?

Why yes, I hadn't though of that (right...)!

I'd have to find a more suitable title now that we are running a theocracy. From now on, Diamondeye will hold the title "Enlightened By The Gods".
