Ok, I know we have 50 million polls about OSes going on but this one is different! You can select more than one OS!! :)

This counts work, home, friends house, library computer, school computer....whatever you use on a regular basis and have learned to love, or hate. Regular basis = at least once a week.

This thread can also be used for a general discussion area about the OS or OSes you use.

My Vote:
Home System #1: Windows XP Professional (Duron-750, 512MB PC133 RAM, 48GB of HDD)
Home System #2: FreeBSD 4.6 Mini install (Cyrix 5x86 120MHz, 16MB of 60ns RAM, 4GB HDD)
Work System #1: Windows 2000 Professional (P2-450, 256MB PC100 RAM, 8GB HDD)
Work System #2: Linux, Red Hat 7.2 (P1-Something, UNK RAM, 3GB HDD)

I haven't loaded Work System #2 but I will on Monday if everything goes right.

Been trying out FreeBSD at home lately, completely comand line, no GUI. It is a refreshing change and reminds me of the MS-DOS days.

Also, while surfing around I have stumbled on the FreeDOS website, www.freedos.org. It is a cost Free MS-DOS alternative that "...aims to be a complete, free, 100% MS-DOS compatible operating system". Check it out if you want to use a more powerful MS-DOS like DOS.

Too many to list, but I use almost everything listed except for the MAC, true UNIX, BSD, QNS, BeOS, Step, WinME, and XP. Linux I use (or tested) includes (has included) SuSE (my favorite distribution), Redhat, Mandrake, Slackware, Debian, and Corel. I have not used Linux much in a while, but will soon. I've briefly tried FreeBSD a long time ago.

The assistant sys/net admin at work and I are going to network a few computers (2, maybe 3 or 4) and are going to try to break into each other's computer(s). He has an advantage because he knows how to program and has an extensive history in Linux. I only have my natural wit and the help of some HoneyPot programs. ;) HoneyPot programs make your system look like they have open ports, security vunlerabilities, etc. to get a hacker to waste his/her time on those instead of what could really be out there. I think I am going with RedHat and FreeBSD....heard that FreeBSD is more secure so that will probably be the main OS.

PH, are you ever going to do any work at your job?????

As for me, in about 2 weeks I'll be using RedHat, FreeBSD, 95, 98, ME, and XP; on 4 different computers(one wiht 95 and 98, and ME)

That's if all goes well with getting my new computers from work.

My main system is a dual-boot between RedHat Linux 7.3 (kernel 2.4.18-3) and Windows 98, but the only thing I ever use windows for is gaming.

win 3.0/3.1/3.11 was also missed

I'm gonna add in win 3.x and NT 4.0 now :D

There, ya happy! :D

My home system - Win 2k & Mandrake Linux 8.2
My son's system - Win XP Pro
My soon to be MP3 Server, currently running Win 3.1 (don't ask)

Work system Win2k Pro.

Almost forgot, My Ipaq has Pocket PC 2002. Can't forget that.

windows me. it´s like stripping your car from all unnecessary details like air bags, bumbers and s***.

Can't believe I forgot Win NT. Well, let' not forget to put Win NT 3.51 up there also! ;)
