Survey, which Unit needs better Art most urgent?

please let me know for which unit/s you would like to see new art next.

After playing with them for a bit I think the parmander needs some lovin, they just look a bit dorky at the moment with their round helmets, not quite up their with the crusader, diseased corpse ,etc and not what I would think an "earth based" religious zealot should look.
 
you guys are probably right :) always when i wander through the pedia, i see those religious units and think wow... they need a replacement really fast. So, some more feedback, do you guys build them often? should i tackle them after the warriors before magicians?
 
If I were to put a priority on the religious units. I would say after warriors, adepts and archmages but before mages
 
Inquisitors, yes, and I don't build parmanders and crusaders often because they seem rathr weak and come too late, but yeah, parmanders need new graphic. And something more unique, or at least strength boost (1 more point of holy damage?) or ability to cast some spells (Or give 'em back the disciple circle)
 
i would like to see the stygian gaurd changed. personally i think he would look cool in some black armor and with a sword. thegoat head on a sick is wierd.also i think it would be cool if the stygian gaurd had the following traits/abilities:
-is undead
-has the death 2 ablity with sorcery
-has the ability too turn 25% of units into zombies who also have a 25% chance of doing the same thing.of course this only applies too living units. and is only effective when victorious
this may seem overpowered but can be easly countered as they would be undead.( and please redo the stygian gaurd)
oh yes and great job with buboes.

check version 0.24 (you will need BtS), Kael replaced the stygian guard with a unit from Afterworld, which is a good solution for now, as we have lots of other things on the list :)
 
I have an art suggestion that is by no means urgent. Ancient forests on mountain peaks don't look right. Hard to explain it, but just try it out in world builder. Not an issue that comes up often I'm sure, but while they may be useless, I like the look of forests on peaks in custom maps and I throw a few in there and they just look weird when the forests upgrade to ancient forests.

Again, not urgent.

I voted for the magician, but now that I think about it the Beastmaster could use some reworking as well.

The animals are ok, but the master himself somehow does not fit in my opinion.
 
I'm not sure it's the scope of this question, but I'd like to see work done on the animations more than the unit graphics. As examples:
-Baron Halfmorn looks like he's swinging an invisible axe
-Most (or all) of the robe wearing units like adepts, disciples, and some heroes don't attack at all in combat; they just stand there and their opponents die.
 
If I had to put in order the units that I think need an aesthetic overhaul, it would be this; Warriors, because that's what you see first and most often.

In terms of magicians, I don't think that all of them need to be completely changed, I actually think the adept and hooded mage look decent. I just think that the archmages and conjuror/summoners are really unimpressive as adaptations of missonaries and GP and not very "magical looking". This is incredibely true for the Ljolsafar(I don't know if this is true for the other elf civ, haven't played them), whose image is fine for the adept, but not for every magic unit.

After magicians, it would be awsome to see golems that aren't so blob-like(the only golem that I like as of now is the wood golem).
 
I voted for warriors mages/adepts and scouts.
But....

I would really like to see some distinction between a lvl4 lvl6 lvl10 units. I feel that now they are veterans they should show some distinction. It would be cool if their images changed slightly as they hit these levels (4, 6, 10). Even a different colour uniform that distinguishes a higher rank. Then you can see at a glance that a unit is a little special. It also makes you value your units more.

More male/female breakdown even within the same unit type, something like a 50/50 chance of a male or female unit being created, maybe even throw in a 1% chance of a hermaphrodite just for a little humor.

You could add a male/female mechanic for a slim chance of distraction for the opposing unit, which yields an extra first strike attempt or something.. I may be taking this too far and have gone way off topic... Sorry....
 
i was thinking about some standard units that could use new graphics or even UUs based on how common they are to have for a particular civ:

Calabim Horsemen: Horseback Riding is needed for Trade which is needed for Feudalism which is needed for Vampires, so as calabim the only tier 2 unit you'll have access to are Horsemen if you got nothing else. Nobility was often asssociated with owning a horse so a nice UU horseman unit for calabim could be cool.
 
Actually, I think that a unique Royal Guard would be better. It normally represent the Aristocracy (and requires this civic, which is Alexis's favorite despite loosing out on the food that could otherwise become xp. Its technology, Monarchy, is also a prerequisite for Feudalism.), which happens to be a unique Vampire aristocracy in this case. Also, the Guardsman promotion and spirit magic don't fit a Calabim aristocrat very well (they are about sacrificing others for their good, not themselves for the good of others, and spirit is the magical sphere opposed the Calabim's representative sphere, body), so I think they should be replaced with the Vampire promotion and another different magic spheres. I was thinking that body, mind, and law would be nice (it would be kinda boring if their spheres were the same as the Vampire unit's). It also might be appropriate for them too to be able to upgrade to Vampire Lords.
 
Calabim could benifit from more customimizing, there list is a bit short and too generic.
 
In terms of what do I see most from your lists:

1)Warriors

2)Adepts

3) Goblins

but frankly the latter are just fine !!! I love the Goblins in FFH they look .. different and I love their :Kachi, Kachu, Kacha, he,hee,hee :)

So if the question is , what would love to be changed urgently then

1) Warriors

2) Golems (some of them are just plain ugly (Flesh Golem and the likes)

3) Chariots, Horse Archers

How comes : I just play a game of Doviello with heavy delving into the Horse Tree. The Doviello Horseman I simply outstanding. I have them now everywhere, as they are my mobile Border Patrol, but then I upgraded some of them to chariots and I was very upset ... but now I am 4 turns aways from Stirrups, lets see what the Horse Archers look like.
