Battlefront came out Tuesday, and it is the day I got it. I just played it for a couple of days now. I can't get enough of it. I always have to fight just one more battle.
The game is just plain good. It is the best Star Wars game I have ever played. It's similar to counterstrike, except there are vehicles and fighters.
All the infantry are fairly balalnced. They all have their up ands downs.
Your basic infantry/ troopers are great for storming the enemy. They seem to work very well in numbers. They are definately close combat fighters and can take out other infantry easily.
Your snipers are great for two things. One, they obviously are good at picking off other units. Two, they can send it these droids that hover over to the enemy (you control where it goes), and you use it to signal in an orbital strike on the area and the unit.
Your pilots also have multiple purposes. They can help heal others, repair droids, and can repair craft they are using. Then can even repair turrets. Anyone can pilot, but their repair ability makes them the best choice for the job. So they really are like pilots, mechanics, and medics all rolled into one.
Oh yeah, they aso resupply your troops. Talk about a good unit. They don't fair as well in infantry combat, though.
You also have your missle launching troopers. They are your anti-vehicle/ anti-airaircraft infantry. You need that kind of defense against vehicles. Trust me.
Finally there are your special infantry. Like the dark/ jet troopers that the Empire and Republic have, respectively. They have jetpacks for short boosts in the air. The Rebel alliance has the Wookie (bowcaster and grenade launcher), and the Confederacy has the Super Battle Droids and the Destroyer Droids. You don't want to face a Destroyer Droid outside a vehicle. I snipe them alot, when their shields are down.
Units that aren't played by any players are Tuskens (man can they hurt the other AI), Ewoks, Gungans, and the Royal Security Force of Naboo.
My favorite vehicle is the AT-TE. The AT-AT is also very good. Both can be taken out. You just need to know what to do. The vehicle that is probably the hardest to deal with isn't either though. The AT-ST has been more of a problem for me (They are just far overpowering on Endor).
