Battlefront came out Tuesday, and it is the day I got it. I just played it for a couple of days now. I can't get enough of it. I always have to fight just one more battle. :p

The game is just plain good. It is the best Star Wars game I have ever played. It's similar to counterstrike, except there are vehicles and fighters.

All the infantry are fairly balalnced. They all have their up ands downs.

Your basic infantry/ troopers are great for storming the enemy. They seem to work very well in numbers. They are definately close combat fighters and can take out other infantry easily.

Your snipers are great for two things. One, they obviously are good at picking off other units. Two, they can send it these droids that hover over to the enemy (you control where it goes), and you use it to signal in an orbital strike on the area and the unit.

Your pilots also have multiple purposes. They can help heal others, repair droids, and can repair craft they are using. Then can even repair turrets. Anyone can pilot, but their repair ability makes them the best choice for the job. So they really are like pilots, mechanics, and medics all rolled into one. :p Oh yeah, they aso resupply your troops. Talk about a good unit. They don't fair as well in infantry combat, though.

You also have your missle launching troopers. They are your anti-vehicle/ anti-airaircraft infantry. You need that kind of defense against vehicles. Trust me.

Finally there are your special infantry. Like the dark/ jet troopers that the Empire and Republic have, respectively. They have jetpacks for short boosts in the air. The Rebel alliance has the Wookie (bowcaster and grenade launcher), and the Confederacy has the Super Battle Droids and the Destroyer Droids. You don't want to face a Destroyer Droid outside a vehicle. I snipe them alot, when their shields are down.

Units that aren't played by any players are Tuskens (man can they hurt the other AI), Ewoks, Gungans, and the Royal Security Force of Naboo.

My favorite vehicle is the AT-TE. The AT-AT is also very good. Both can be taken out. You just need to know what to do. The vehicle that is probably the hardest to deal with isn't either though. The AT-ST has been more of a problem for me (They are just far overpowering on Endor).

It's Battlefield 1942, but Star Wars. No resemblance to counterstrike at all. :p

And I love it, haven't played all the maps or anything yet, but jet troopers zooming over mos eisley is great fun. :D

do you have it for pc or console? i heard the xbox version of the game got a better review but i think games like this were made for the pc...

I've got the PC Version. Don't want an xbox, and being an fps game, I'd say it's best on keyboard/mouse combo.

Hey Zarn, great info!

I got Rome: Total War, so I am not likely to buy another game in the next time, but this game sounds like a real winner.

Thanks a lot, I will keep it in mind.

Heh, to bad I am squezing my pennies or I would be buying this game ;).

I played the trial of it on XBox from the Trilogy DVD and I must say my brother and I were gravely dissapointed. The aiming is so bad it's not funny. Before you even begin playing on the battlefield one of your comrades has already died in the midst of fighting. Your influence on the outcome almost is meaningless. There are like 15 bots and one you. You have bad aim so there is little skill involved. Not very fun like I thought.

I have the console version (PS2) actually, since I don't play X-box. I would rather have games on a console than a pc.

My influence on the battlefield is actually very great, just in my direct fighting alone. I also give (general) commands to other troops, and that has influence as well.

I want to point out, as long as they stick with these controller pads, consoles will never have the smooth aiming of a PC shooter.

How do you command your troops? I don't think it would do much good anyways. But still it would be nice to know because you know those ewoks (stupid)

You people keep thinking it's the controller...
You could aim it at a direction and Not move the cursor. Take a random shot and 80% of the shots move left or right randomly, with bad aim Not caused by or having anything to do with me.

That's the weapons, and how I was expecting them to work. If you're played previous star wars games, you'll notice that some blasters don't generally shoot straight. It's also mentioned in some tech descriptions as well I think. It's just how they work.

Well then how come Luke and Han and Chewy and good guys always have good aim... lol

Not the rebel marines...
They are worse than stormtroopers. :p

Blasters aren't accurate, but the movies seem to give the good guys the edge with them (at least the main characters). Smugglers and Jedi with 'good aim' isn't the most odd thing in SW, though. Wouldn't you naturally think that these two types would have 'good aim?'

Even Princess Leia?
She's a princess, you don't expect her to have good aim (except for the little force she has...) but still for Stormtroopers you think since they're all the same they would genetically be enhanced to have good aim, and that's like their whole life shooting people and things...

#16 - Law of Inverse Accuracy
The accuracy of a 'Good Guy' when operating any form of fire-arm increases as the difficulty of the shot increases. The accuracy of the 'Bad Guys' when operating fire-arms decreases when the difficulty of the shot decreases. (Also known as the Storm trooper Effect) Example: A 'Good Guy' in a drunken stupor being held upside down from a moving vehicle will always hit, and several battalions of 'Bad Guys' firing on a 'Good Guy' standing alone in the middle of an open field will always miss.
First Corollary -
The more 'Bad Guys' there are, the less likely they will hit anyone or do any real damage.
Second Corollary -
Whenever a 'Good Guy' is faced with insurmountable odds, the 'Bad Guys' line up in neat rows, allowing the hero to take them all out with a single burst of automatic fire and then escape.
Third Corollary -
Whenever a 'Good Guy' is actually hit by enemy fire, it is in a designated 'Good Guy Area', usually a flesh wound in the shoulder or arm, which restricts the 'Good Guy' from doing anything more strenuous than driving, firing weaponry, using melee weapons, operating heavy machinery, or doing complex martial arts maneuvers.

I got this from a list of rules for anime, but I think it applies in general. :p

Lol that sounds real.
But in my experience with Star Wars: Battlefront, those rules don't seem to apply. Maybe it's just because it's a demo. Maybe it's just because of the certain level. But don't get me wrong, it still doesn't work out as well as that list implies.
