Now I dont have horses, so how can I build a chariot, is a man running in front? ;)

If you want historical accuracy
: the reason mankind brought chariots to war instead of riding the horses was because the horses they had available weren't strong enough to carry a man, even less fight because they would get scared and dismount the rider, nor had they came up with a solution on how to fight on top while giving the horses commands (yet). On the civ games you can assume then that the horses shown as a resourse are war horses (a big and strong breed).

Even Roman dogs had their own chariots.and they didnt bother with horses either.

The bonus move point they get from flat land is pretty awesome. I wish it was a thing that all units in the heavy cavalry family shared.
