hey all,

ive been playin civ2 for a while and i decided to start playing king level. i was wondering if i could get some advice on wonders. on prince level i build a lot of them: pyramids, great lib, marco, king richards, leonardo, michelangelo, john smith, statue, suffrage, UN, hoover, seti, and apollo. i usually finish the game colonizing at around 1900. ive been playin on king level recently and i think some of these wonders are slowing me down. can i get some advice on which ones to cut down and any other differences between the 2 levels?
thanks

pyramyds and gardens are cool... library is really importatn.

if there is another civ near you, and they are hostile, then great wall is also nice.

IN ADDITION to the ones already listed... Colossus can form the foundation of the super science city

And I am gaining an appreciation for the much maligned lighthouse and its veteran ships.

And always: Mike's Chapel is VERY nice.

Well if you are playing you first king game ever then yes - the Garden and Library are pretty good. But I never build them any more - Well if I have nothing els to build yes but not because the help me in my playing!!! Most of the other wonders are ok - but you should go for the wonders that don't stop working, they are the most important!!!

Pyramids are still good at King level. (At Emperor and Deity some people feel they're nuisance as your cities go into revolt quicker.) My advice is to quell unrest by building new settlers, not by building wonders, so I don't go for the Gardens.

I wouldn't build the Library as you should be no. 1 in science anyway (unless you desperately want to stop another Civ getting it).

Mike's Chapel is essential and Leo's Workshop is great (unless you like manually upgrading all your units

)

Lighthouse (underestimated by most people) is great if you're playing archipelago maps or any large map. Magellan for the same reason.

Colossus on a coastal city for a good science city. Build the other science wonders there too and make sure every land square around it has roads. And build SETI and Apollo.

Never build Manhattan! Do build the UN. Marco Polo is good for trading techs. I always skip King Richard.

Adam Smith is fabulous at King level with a big map. All your libraries, market places, temples and harbours are suddenly free!

Suffrage is IMHO overrated. You really needed it in Civ1 - less so in Civ2. The AI loves it so I let it have it. Only build it if you like to stick to Democracy.

Statue is good only if you want an early switch to Communism. Use the Oedo years instead if you simply want to switch governments often. (see "scrolls of wisdom")

In my opinion there's a far bigger difference between King and Emperor than Prince and King. You should have little problems stepping up a grade.

Damn stormerne I couldn't have said it better myself - have you been looking over my shoulder when I play Civ2???
We do play very much alike...... And BEER is a major part of both our lives!!!

DAMN we Europeans really have more in common than I first thought!!!

I think emperor and Diety is the hardest step. Kinf to emperor isn't that hard. Diety is just a bunch of riots. I can manage Diety, but its so much harder than emperor.
