If you switch away from the Ashen Veil religion will your alignment switch away from evil? How about other switches?

Will getting rid of the Ashen Veil religion in your cities "peacefully" reduce the AC?

Switching from the Ashen Veil will not make you non-evil unless you're switching to a non-evil religion.

AV -> Overlords, Fellowship, or Esus: Still evil
AV -> Empyrean or Runes: Neutral
AV -> Order: Good

I don't recall off the top of my head whether or not inquisitions of the Veil reduce the AC.

OK, thanks guys. I started a game as the Amurites and found an AV disciple early on in a lair. The bonus to research was overwhelmingly tempting even though I knew that it would eventually turn my civ evil. :evil: Must have been the influence of the infernal overcoming my magely good sense. Well now the AV has spread to the neighbors :shifty: and the AC is starting to get a bit TOO high :run: so it's time to put a stop to it. Plus this gives me an excuse to take out some of those annoying neighbors. :D

As a followup question, I managed to spread Empyrean to every city on the map BUT it is only at 61% influence. Is that because of the other religions co-existing in some of the AI cities?

Yes, each religion present in a city appears to be worshipped evenly by the population.

I managed to get the religion up to 73% (80% was the target) when my vassals finished off the other guys and I won a conquest victory. Oh well.

BTW, you can't remove a religion from a city where it was founded via inquisitors. Don't know if that one ritual does it either.
