Tarkar Merek's Journal

Since you spoke of mortality and afterlife(s): Could you tell us of the fearsome Immortals?

The Immortals
Disclaimer: My knowledge of immortals is scarce, but I shall attempt to give the most accurate account. Apologies in advance for any confusion.

Not much is known of the immortals. They die, resurrect, then come fighting again. I was once in the path of an immortal attack. I barricaded my family in the shelter. They showed no mercy. Killing all and taking anything they want. As we rebuilt after the attack, I began to think as an immortal. To die again and again, only to die again. I couldn't see how their minds could cope with it. It would certainly explain their violent nature.

OOC: Please send ideas for me to spend some time pondering. It would help keep me busy and would give was has been called "interesting writing"

Please send Tarkar Merek letters with utmost haste.

CONFIDENTIAL

The Scorpion and I have seemed to merge. While I have found no real physical mutations, thank the Gods, we could hear the sounds of their approach. Several soldiers held their spears directly into the sewers. All workers were rounded up, expect for me who stayed hidden in a storage cabinet for approximately 47 minutes.

Within time, the time to strike shall come. However, we must show patience. Keep a close eye on that man.

To the Dural Sage Tarkar Merek, what do you think of the Valkryies, the women angels of Junil?

The Valkyries

The topic of the Valkyries is a difficult one. Not much is known of them as they are a type of angel and, therefore, hard to understand. The angels look and act human, but, many have lost that protective feeling over the mortals as their sights are on the Infernals. From what I've heard, and my sources may be unreliable, the Valkyries are some of the toughest angel warriors, almost the shock troops, if it weren't for newly reborn souls. I have tried to get my hand on tomes involving the angels and Mercurians, but information is very low. Until I can find some more info, consider this topic still open.

Note from Cypher: I truly don't know much about the angels. I haven't spent much time as them, but I'll get on a game of them to try to get some more insight.

Requires questions. If you visit this thread, leave a question for Tarkar to ponder. Keep it clean please. He awaits your "letters"

Tarkar Merek, I've heard a lot about your travels in the world, and the many glorious cities you've happened to travel to; what are your views on the Amurite capital, Cevedes?

Orcs

The everyday life of the Orc is one filled with combat training and weapon making. If there was a single society that thrives completely on warfare, it would be the Clan of Embers. Even the why they chop down trees to build is done in such a way so that it helps them in battle. The most revered of the Orcs are usually older than the others, usually around 25-30, because that's their life expectancy. These veteran Orcs are highly respected and being trained by such an Orc was considered an honor.
The markets of the Orcs are far different than most. Instead of stalls and merchants, there are hunters and trappers who sell their wares to other Orcs. Weapons made of bone and the meat of rabbits, squirrels, and, most common, the meat of a deer.
Orc physiology is similar to that of the human. The difference is that the Orc seems to have a need to feed on meat. Orcs can sustain themselves on nuts, berries, and fruits, but the first food they seek out is that which is living. I am continuing to study the Orcs so consider this topic open.

Since you are already talking of the more brutal species and people on Erebus, might you enlighten us about the Pact of the Nilhorn?

Giants of the Nilhorn

Giants. They are a fearsome creature and should be evaded at all costs by the unprepared. However, a bard named Antonis of Oriel strayed too close to a group of hill giants and was taken prisoner. This group called themselves the Nilhorn. Desperate to be released by his giant captors, he offered all he could. Music. The giants were entranced by his music and Antonis decided to stay with the Nilhorn, having found someone who enjoys his music to the fullest. He stayed for a full three years until one day, a giant reported a large Sheaim army approaching. They begged him not to leave, but he left to defend Oriel. He died during that battle, infuriating the giants who smashed into the Sheaim forces. When the battle was over, the giants took Antonis' body and the villagers raised a monument to their rescuers. Now, I personally believe that if we could come to an understanding with the giants, they could be powerful allies. The Clan has Ogres, we could have giants. I imagine that if they were armored, given a quality weapon, and some basic training, they could possibly be a match for on of the Infernal Balors.

There has been much on my mind. So much to write about and so little time. I shall leave it to my disciples to decide. I send you all this scroll to help direct me in the correct direction. I offer you three options.

Orcs Continued

I spoke briefly of Orc physiology in my previous entry on these barbaric creatures. Since studying them further, I have found they heal quickly and barely notice any sort of pain. One Orc fell and was impaled by a one foot spike. He stood, removed it, and continued on his way. Why most think of Orcs as barbarians and I have found that they have some sort of chain of command. At the top, of course, is Jonas Endain, but there are other Orcs that seem to be treated with respect. However, the lower on the chain you are, the less-respected you are. You will be spit on, insulted, and most likely pushed into the excrement pile, an act I saw done more than once. Obviously, these Orcs maintain some sort of human intelligence, warped by whatever made them this way. Further study is needed.

To Tarkar Merek, good job!

Mardero the Wicked

Mardero. The name strikes fear in the hearts of all but the most hardened men. Mardero, slaughterer of hundreds, torturer of thousands, and half-demon. Of all of his traits, his half-mortal heritage is possibly the most vile. There was one a woman, Lita, who lived in a small, quaint village. However, strange things were abound and the finger was pointed at poor Lita. She was thrown off a cliff, the test for witches. If she fell, she was innocent and was mourned. If she floated, she was a witch and was hunted. She was cast off the Cliffs of Hastur and disappeared in the perpetual mist. Legends say she was caught by a winged demon, Hastur, and taken to a cave in the cliffs. There she was raped repeatedly until she was pregnant. She soon gave birth to wretched creatures, one of them being Mardero. The legends say they ate her to sustain themselves, but people have reported seeing this woman, distraught and disheveled, wandering with no purpose. If she could be found, she could be the answer to slaying Mardero. Her blood could be a poison, her touch could be a burn, her voice could be a shrill shriek to the demon that kills it. Certainly, finding her must be a high priority.

Cult of Junil

The Cult to the God of Junil prides itself on good and humanity, helping the poor and vanquishing the dark. The Cult of Junil claims purity, but their actions denote otherwise. When they sense a "corruption" in a city, they feel they must cleanse the whole city by fire. This action sounds much like what an Ashen Veil leader would do, just for fun. Is the Cult of Junil truly as good as they say or are they simply trying to be the dictators of all beings of Erebus. They have dipped their self-righteous fingers into just about everything, denouncing that which they find unholy and promoting that which is good. Those that choose the "unholy" are branded heretics and traitors and are often run out of their city. To me, the Cult of Junil sounds more like the Ashen Veil than a holy order.
