-Team SABER General Information-
-For Email, save and other non-department information- This is Not a discussion thread!-

For information regarding getting, playing and sending the save, as well as other information potentially of general interest.

Team Email-
team.saber (at) gmail (dot) com

Email Password-
whitenotebook21

Game Save Password-
Automan

Email security question:
Question:White or black?
Answer: Dark Brown
(:crazyeye:)

-Playing Save (not done yet, feel free to suggest stuff to add in Water Hole Thread or in PM.... )

-The save playing time limit with out an extension is 24 hours, if it looks like we need more time for playing the save it is the Sultan's responsibilty (or the turn player if different person) to post that our team needs an extension in the turn tracker thread.

1. Download save from our email account (team.saber (at) gmail (dot) com, password "whitenotebook21") and play (save password "automan" ), taking the turn orders from the Offical Turn Orders Thread.

2. Rename the game save name to MTDG2_XXX_SABER.SAV, so that if it is turn 54, and we were playing the turn, it would be: MTDG2_054_SABER.SAV

3. Send save to Team Free at team DOT free2 AT gmail DOT com and the admins at TitanicWhiz18 AT comcast DOT net and ale.of.ginger AT gmail DOT com

4. Send battlelogs (if any) to team attacked and to the admins. (example- 4HP Rifleman attacks 3HP Mustketman - Rifleman wins, still 4HP)

5. Post in the Turn Tracker thread that the save has been sent to Team Free.

Looking at save but not playing
-It's okay to download a save and look at how things are going, but please, unless you are authorized to play the save, Do Not Move Any Units!
As far as I know though it's fine to tinker with how the citizens and other civilization settings are, so feel free to change settings if you think you have a better way.

So General Guideline- Don't do anything that would reveal something that would otherwise not be seen unless authorized or is an irreversible change.

-Use only MapStat (v2.11.0) and CivAssist II to monitor the various stats in the game if wished.

For every term I'll post a quick thing in this thread so we all know who our gov officials for the term are. I thought this could be helpful for newbies and people who leave and then become active again.

Sultan- Chamnix
Team Captain- classical_hero
Chief Ambassador to the Barbarians- dutchfire
Commander in Chief- Calis
Chief Bean Counter- gbno1fan

Terms 3 and 4 saw SABER under the same exact leadership as Term 2.

Here's the new leaders for Term 5, which will begin on Turn 121 and last to Turn 150.

Sultan- Chamnix
Team Captain- Calis
Chief Ambassador to the Barbarians- greekguy
Commander in Chief- GreyBeard
Chief Bean Counter-Marsden

I had a look at our constitution and found some aspects, which I want to discuss about.

If anybody says, "paper doesn't blush" and we do it our way anyways, the discussion is dead before it begins, which is no problem for me actually, but if this constitutions has any value to the team members, either it or the way we play the turns have to be adjusted.

Citizens
* A citizen shall be defined as any person who has joined SABER and has not withdrawn from the game.
*Any refugees who join SABER after their team is defeated may not vote in elections or run for office unless a SABER team member sponsers them for citizenship and the Team Captain grants them their citizenship.

We have listed many people in our roster who actually never attend. Especially the two newest members Flying Kitty and Provolution never actually showed up here (At least I didn't see them on ever). To take it to an extreme they COULD be spies just lurking around and tell someone else what is going on here.

I want to point out that I am talking hypothetically and am not calling someone a spy explicitly!!!

I just want to know the other team members opinion on this matter!!

My thinking: Even if someone only wants to be a lurker, it's not asked too much to post once in the welcome thread. I'd like to clean the members list by those people who NEVER posted a single post here!

Marsden also had an intention when he started the MISSING MEMBERS thread!

Sultan
*Plays the save.
*In charge of worker moves

Chief Bean Counter
*Assigns citizens to tiles.
*In charge of city builds and city specialists.
*In charge of :science: and :culture: rates.
*First back-up turn player.

I think the following job description would be better:

Sultan
*Plays the save.
*Assigns citizens to tiles.
*In charge of worker moves and city specialists

Chief Bean Counter
*In charge of city builds.
*In charge of :science: and :culture: rates.
*First back-up turn player.
[/QUOTE]

I just think the turn player is the best for assigning the citizens, as I consider this as almost impossible for anybody else to tell every little detail to be changed. Looking at the changes that Chamnix executes almost every turns, I wouldn't like to be a bean counter.

To a lesser extend the same counts for specialists.

I am eager to hear your guys opinion...

I was just thinking both of those things recently! :faint:

On point 1, yes it's strange to sign up and never even say hello. Maybe they aren't allowed to join the other forums after they've picked a team, but what if they are just PMing info or emailing it outside of CFC completely? Is there a defense to this? I don't really want to bother them but maybe we should ask RM or GA?

On point 2, I notice Chamnix had been rearanging the citizens and I'd just been saying what to build. If you want to get right down to it, he's also been determining the sliders, I am going along with what he chose of course. So you can say I'm giving his moves approval to make it official, but me telling Chamnix how to micromanage is probably as opposite as you can be. He knows much more about it in theory and practice so I don't try to interfere. I only just seem to have garnered enough courage to actually be on stand-by if I need to play the turn. That will be a heavily discussed turn if it happens I can tell you, but Chamnix just plays them without 2nd guessing himself enough to ask where should I move every single thing so why should anyone stop him? I have no objections but you raise a good point.

Provolution joined right around the time the Babe city flipped to us, and I remember him voting in the renaming poll, but I haven't seen him since, and I don't think he ever actually posted anything. I don't know if RegentMan/Ginger_Ale will actually revoke anyone's group membership - for some reason I think they wouldn't last game.

I completely agree with putting the turnplayer in charge of citizen micromanagement - not because I'm the turnplayer, but if I may be so brazen as to quote myself :smug::

As far as the breakdown of responsibilities goes, I think the turnplayer will end up having to be in charge of worker moves and citizen micromanagement. In the early game, I think we should spreadsheet the first 25 moves or so as a team, and anyone can follow them, but once we have 25 towns and 40 workers (for example), I think it becomes very unwieldy for one person to list 40 worker moves and many citizen moves and expect someone else to be able to follow them without screwing up somewhere.

Of course, I hope all citizens who can will look at the save and offer opinions on how MM can be improved and what worker tasks need to be performed (I know I will if I'm not playing the turn :D!).

In the single-player DG here at CFC, we probably have 10 registered members for every active member, and probably about 4 members who never posted more than once or twice for every active member. So it seems to be pretty usual to sign up for things while not being active.
